Daily Harvest is looking for a Senior Director of Strategic Sourcing & Planning to join our Innovation + Operations Team. The Innovation + Operations team operationalizes the Daily Harvest mission from conception to delivery. We ideate and bring our food to life. We source ingredients and build supply chains, we create sustainable packaging solutions, ensure food safety, and instill production capabilities that benefit our customers, our partners, and our planet. All of this is done to ensure on-time deliveries and a perfect experience for our customers.
The Senior Director of Strategic Sourcing & Planning will be a critical leader within our organization, helping us live our values to drive impact beyond transactional procurement practices and building a cost saving and data centric planning function. This will include building upon our foundation of direct-to-farmer supply chain development, ingredient and packaging supplier and commodity management, expansion of Individually Quick Frozen (IQF) technology and partnerships, assembly manufacturing capacity modeling and allocation decisions, weekly reporting on inventory positions, and initiatives to support COGS savings. We are looking for an experienced, mission-driven supply chain expert who is interested in helping us deliver on our operational and sustainability goals. This leader will have the remit to build supply chains that drive results for our partners and Daily Harvest. In addition, this leader will have the opportunity to lead a high performing team of category managers, inventory & strategic planners, purchasing coordinators and business analysts to develop negotiation strategies, drive scale and optimization across the business, and support our exciting innovation pipeline.
- Manage and lead a team responsible for commodity and contract management, new ingredient onboarding, weekly production planning & scheduling, raw material and packaging purchasing, and capacity planning
- Collaborate with the Director of Sustainability to develop, operationalize, and track the development of new supply chains, including a robust Transitional Organic program, Fair Trade, and increasing representation of BIPOC+ growers. This will include the identification, nurturing, and management of farmer partnerships and the end-to-end supply chain for IQF processing.
- Develop and implement a strategic sourcing process for our direct ingredients and packaging spend, creating an iterative process that continuously improves our purchasing power and creates value for our customers, partners, business, and the environment
- Direct oversight of our category managers to execute the operational procurement program to drive scale, cost optimization, and innovation
- Collaborate with our manufacturing partners supply chain team to ensure optimized and best in class purchasing to reduce freight costs
- Ensure timely submitted and reconsilted invoices from key partners
- Lead the Planning function to ensure that volume is strategiclly allocated based on capacity, COGS, budget implications, forecast, etc.
- Support manufacturing RFPS for redundancy or replacement as needed
- Ensure maintenance of all Master Data for Procurement, Planning, and MRP tools. Actively support onboarding and adoption of an end to end supply chain function through our ERP โ inclusive of building new process maps, engaging our suppliers & manufacturing partners.
- Develop a robust procurement analytics process which leverages market, supplier, product and historical consumption data and analyses to drive continuous improvement and identify opportunities for cost reduction while also reaching towards our sustainability goals
- Cultivate a high performing team by mentoring and developing business analysts as they support the strategic sourcing process for our categories end-to-end
- Develop a culture of continuous improvement through effective project management, use of retrospectives and by identifying new capabilities and processes that drive efficiency and improve our cost basis
- 8+ years of experience in procurement and sourcing, consulting experience preferred
- BA/BS degree in business, supply chain or related discipline, CPM certification a plus, MBA a plus
- A mission driven sourcing expert who believes in the power of Organic and regenerative agriculture
- Someone with a clear understanding of procurement sourcing best practices, especially in balancing business needs with sustainability values
- An expert negotiator who has handled multi-million dollar contract negotiations by following/developing a strategic sourcing process, professional training in negotiation practices a plus
- A creative problem solver with a process improvement mindset
- A data-driven decision maker who is passionate about bringing that mentality to their team
- A strong leader with a proven track record of managing large and diverse teams of both direct and indirect reports
- Detail-oriented โ You possess strong organizational skills and consistently demonstrate a methodical approach to all your work
- Agile โ You thrive in fast-paced and dynamic environments and are willing to get deep into the weeds where needed
- A strong communicator who can easily communicate complex solutions cross functionally and to upper management
- A successful track record of value creation from data-driven insights in sourcing, supply chain or operations management
- Vast knowledge and interest in strategic sourcing and continuous improvement processes with demonstrated experience in spend analysis, managing sourcing events, and generating value through sourcing
- Strong quantitative and analytical experience (either through education or professional experience), including expertise with G-Suite, Excel and procurement systems
- Flexibility to travel (up to 25%)
- Flexibility to work weekends when required (2-3 times per quarter)
- Fluency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications
The anticipated annual base salary range for this role is $165,000 - $200,000. Actual compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skills.
