The Sr. HR Business Partner will work with our Topeka Manufacturing facility leaders on strategic business and human resource priorities including talent management, employee engagement, and organizational effectiveness (organization design & capabilities, and change management). This position will stay up-to-date on the pulse of the organization, external market and human resource trends while serving as a business partner to managers, supervisors, and employees across the organization, by providing support in employee relations, performance management, organizational development, training, individual development planning and succession planning, recruitment / selection, and other workplace initiatives to drive operational excellence in the facility.
The incumbent will provide leadership and counsel to business partners in issue resolution, policy and process development, policy adherence, and process renewal to ensure compliance with Hill’s policies, as well as federal and state employment legislation. The right candidate will be able to meet the day-to-day requirements of Human Resources while maintaining a strategic and operational view that links the role of H.R. to business needs. The role reports to the Hill’s End to End Supply Chain Director and indirectly to the Plant Director.
Business Partnering
Provide direction, leadership and support on all HR related processes/activities to managers, supervisors and employees.
Operate within a participative team environment and seek to increase team member's interpersonal and teamwork skills and knowledge to a level consistent with a world class manufacturer.
Participate with functional leaders and others as necessary to develop and implement strategic organization plans, strategic labor relations plans, and near and long term resource / staffing plans
Manage "People Capabilities" Standard in compliance with the Colgate Palmolive Factory Performance & Reliability (FP&R) process.
Coach team members in the areas of communication skills, career paths, promoting a positive work environment (Managing with Respect), through formal and informal feedback sessions.
Lead people processes (performance management, compensation planning, talent management) and assist managers and employees in timely completion of the processes for the site.
Positive Employee Relations
Serve as an employee advocate by establishing workforce relationships
Manage the internal grievance process
Partner with the People Relations CoHRE and Legal to develop responses to external complaints
Champion the company’s Ethical Leadership standards, behaviors and compliance
Represent the company in outside community activities
Monitor HR compliance on-site, including 3rd party contractors
Training and People Development
Support the design and delivery of training interventions to support the organization needs; identify training resource requirements.
Ensure on-boarding and assimilation processes for new employees confirms alignment with organization’s vision and culture and achieves their ability to quickly contribute to the organization’s goals
General Responsibilities
Manage a team of 3: HR Business Associate, Training Coordinator and a Payroll & Engagement Coordinator. Coach and develop the team to achieve individual and career growth objectives.
Identify and implement forward-thinking HR solutions based on an understanding of relevant business operations and strategies aligned with the company’s Human Capital Strategy
Use people analytics tools to inform solutions development (e.g. career planning, targeted compensation, incentives, retention, etc.) through anticipation and understanding of issues and trends on future labor,organization and business needs
Work jointly with the Hill’s End to End Supply Chain Director to evaluate the people impact of organizational plans and/or programs for future organizational effectiveness.
Collaborate as a member of the Hill’s End to End Supply Chain HR Team
Partner with HR in the Center of HR Excellence (COHREs) and Colgate Business Services (CBS) to influence and execute HR strategy, policies, and programs
Required Education/ Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related discipline
8+ years of progressive HR experience
Experience in manufacturing
Ability to use business tools to analyze and prepare data
Strong project management, presentation and facilitation skills
Experience in:
Providing HR strategic advice and coaching to business leaders
Managing conflict and employee relations matters
Development and implementation of HR initiatives
Preferred Education/ Experience Requirements
One or more HR Specialty Area (Compensation, Benefits, People Relations, People Development, Talent Acquisition, Diversity & Inclusion, Analytics, Organization Development/Design)
SAP HR and/or Success Factors / Employee Central
Experience in plant operations management
Master's Degree
Salary Range $168,000 - $195,000USD
Pay is based on several non discriminatory factors including but not limited to experience, education, skills and office location. In addition to your salary, Colgate-Palmolive offers a performance based bonus and competitive benefits package.
