Senior Manager, Corporate Revenue Accounting and Reporting

Reporting into Assistant Corporate Controller, Ivalua is looking for a talented, highly motivated individual to join its financial team as a senior manager specifically focused on supporting global revenue accounting function, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, review current accounting processes, and make recommendations and improvements, managing audit related activities and supporting external audit, where needed. We are looking for a creative and confident self-starter who is a team player, but also comfortable working autonomously. The candidate must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) to establish credibility and facilitate an effective working relationship with a wide range of Company representatives including the Company's leadership team. Other critical skills include experience in managing an indirect reporting team structure, sound business judgment, calibrating advice and strategy based on the company's risk tolerance, strong organization and prioritization/time management skills, attention to detail, strategic thinking, goal and team orientation, and the ability to develop relationships with a variety of people at different levels and functions throughout the Company. This is very much a "hands on" accounting role with interaction with different departments and a high level of visibility within the organization. This includes being able to directly review commercial customer deals from a ASC606 perspective, the process owner of technical accounting on all areas of accounting with special emphasis on revenue under ASC606, SEC reporting, accounting policies update, lead and resolve technical accounting and reporting issues, monitoring and help to implement new accounting standards and drafting technical accounting policies and memos on various accounting positions.

Responsibilities

  • Strong understanding and application of US GAAP on all major accounting areas, especially around revenue recognition on ASC 606 on software and SAAS industries, leases, equity/debt accounting, stock-based compensation, goodwill and intangibles impairment assessment, segment reporting, EPS, investments, and business combination.
  • Review customer contracts and purchase orders to ensure proper bookings and revenue recognition in accordance with accounting guidance and company policies.
  • Evaluating and documenting the accounting treatment for non-standard revenue transactions. Proactively improve the accounting and automation process on revenue recognition.
  • Experience in operationalizing the technical application of the revenue recognition accounting guidance.
  • Prepare month-end and quarter-end close activities for accounting areas and be a direct point of contact for external auditors for revenue recognition and other technical accounting matters.
  • Maintain adequate controls to ensure the accuracy and completeness of internal and external reports, including taking ownership for review process of all reports.
  • Interface effectively with numerous individuals both inside and outside the Company, including the external auditors, to address and resolve accounting issues.
  • Remain current with new technical accounting standards.
  • Lead and manage the process of actively updating and maintaining accounting policies and working closely with process owners to update policy to reflect or improve process and ensure compliance with GAAP.
  • Lead the technical accounting function except for taxes. Perform technical research on complex accounting issues, including drafting memos and position papers, and provide accounting consultation advice to business partners under US GAAP;
  • Manage of the Company's financial reporting process, including external quarterly and annual reporting SEC filings, earnings release reporting, other SEC filings and other ad-hoc reporting as required.
  • Process manages the accounting related aspect of equity administration function.
  • Lead one-off technical accounting projects or respond to ad-hoc reporting requests as needed.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • CFA preferred
  • Last job preferably to be in industry (specifically in technology software/SAAS companies)
  • Previous background in public accounting client service (Big 4 preferred) preferred
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and exposure to complex revenue recognition transactions
  • At least 8+ years of relevant experience with a mixture of both industry and public accounting experience, primarily for publicly traded companies
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to work with systems and large sets of data
  • Knowledge of NetSuite preferred
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and SEC reporting regulations

  • Ability to multi-task, plan, execute and deliver on projects in a timely manner.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft office applications (excel, word, power point) including the ability to work with systems and large sets of data required to succeed in the role.
  • Ability to clearly and concisely document and effectively communicate complex accounting and reporting issues to finance and non-finance personnel
  • Excellent communication, management and analytical skills combined with sound business judgment
  • Detailed and results oriented and able to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment with tight deadlines

The compensation range for this position is based upon careful and continual market compensation research. In addition to location, compensation may also vary based upon job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Title: Senior Manager Corporate Accounting

Base Range minimum: $108,500

Base Range maximum: $201,500

Additional compensation / rewards: Ivalua offers an annual target bonus for this position conditional on individual and company performance. Other compensation factors may also be considered.
