As we continue to evolve our award-winning Creative Team, we're looking for a Manager of UX Design who loves doing the detailed work and coming up with new UX design ideas. This person works well with clients and stakeholders because they are passionate about user experience and identifying the right solution, possesses maturity, and has client-management experience. This person will use this foundation of skills to lead by example through project contribution, and mentorship and development of their team.
Our Creative Team serves as creative services for the Constant Contact brand. Every piece of creative that comes out of the marketing department is created by this group. We do everything from the main Constant Contact website to national TV spots, YouTube campaigns, email promotions, and customer communications.
This is a remote-first US position. Or, if desired, you can work in a hybrid model from one of our offices in Boston, MA, Waltham, MA, Gainesville, FL, or Santa Monica, CA. Whatever you need to be successful!
What you'll do:
- Set and own UX strategy: Partner with Senior Creative Director to develop the strategic plans for the UX team — helping to connect the company's brand identity with the desired user experience. This could entail building strategic UX artifacts like user journeys and personas.
- Act as Player/Coach: Lead by example to collaborate with product marketing, product UX and creative leadership, bring a sense of urgency and vision, and translate briefs into creative direction that will lead to high-performing user-centered design solutions. Actively contribute problem-solving efforts through research, wireframing, prototyping and usability testing projects.
- Lead the Marketing UX team: Mentor and coach direct reports by working closely to identify clear career paths, providing critical feedback, and establish growth plans through one-on-one sessions.
- Identify budget needs: Work with cross-functional leaders to determine the resources necessary for the UX team to complete their work, for things like research and tooling.
- Facilitate the design process: Set and maintain team workflows, evaluate what is and is not working, and document the design process.
- Lead design reviews and testing: Own the partnership and collaboration with Site and Product teams for front-of-site UX design reviews and user testing/usability sessions to identify customer pain points and areas to improve
- Communicate with stakeholders: Build strong relationships by speaking regularly with other teams and leadership about progress, upcoming work, and any work requests assigned to the team.
Who you are:
- 10+ years of relevant UX experience at agencies, studios or in-house and 2+ years of direct management and mentorship of UX designers
- A portfolio that demonstrates a track record of producing data-informed, effective experiences that deliver measurable outcomes for the customer and the business (ecommerce, SaaS, tech industries preferred)
- Highly collaborative with the ability to negotiate, problem solve, and get past hurdles with stakeholders & collaborators to keep things moving forward
- Experience working with a variety of design systems, diagnosing system constraints, and being able to come up with a gameplan to fix and develop necessary requirements to get the job done
- Expertise and proficiency with Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, design sprint model, usability testing
- Strong analytical, critical, strategic, and systems thinking, and attention to detail
- Self-starter with ability to create multiple design approaches and articulate your design rationale based on data, insights, collaboration, and intuition
- Ability to drive the right outcomes, at the right time, with appropriate design elements including diagrams, maps, flows, wireframes, prototypes, and specs
- Sense of ownership – not just of their own work but of the team's as well
- Relevant degree in the field of design or HCI - Human-Computer Interaction
