Senior Mechanical Engineering Manager

We are looking for a mechanical engineering manager to join us and lead a team of 4-6 people to develop the hardware necessary to continue to take more of our customers’ previously impossible designs directly into production.

You will...

    • Work closely with product management and senior engineering management to develop and refine the core requirements of future hardware products.
    • Foster and encourage a supportive team environment that promotes teamwork, mentorship, and diverse perspectives.
    • Work with your team to develop and manage project schedules for your product and ensure that milestones and goals are met while adhering to approved budgets.
    • Collaborate directly with other engineering disciplines, including electrical, optical, systems, software as well as chemical materials to develop system requirements and coordinate design activity.
    • Collaborate outside Engineering with Manufacturing, Procurement, Finance, Applications, and other groups to get great products ramped up and delivered to our customers.
    • Manage initiatives and projects through their life cycles in collaboration with the Program Management Team.
    • Establish programs to support training, process improvements, and the creation and maintenance of best practices and protocols.

You have...

    • Experience thinking strategically about your team, the policies they comply with, the processes they utilize for optimal efficiency, and how to continuously grow their capabilities.
    • 4+ years of experience with hiring and leading technical teams in a people management capacity.
    • A passion for building, growing, and developing a diverse and talented team.
    • A perpetual curiosity for learning about spaces previously unknown to you and being unafraid to nerd out about what you know for the benefit of others.
    • BS Degree in Engineering or related technical degree. Advanced degree preferred.
    • Experience with hiring and leading technical teams.
    • Experience successfully managing projects on tight deadlines with grace and an aptitude for working through complex design tradeoffs to resolve schedule or budget issues.
    • Experience with Solidworks or equivalent 3D CAD package.
    • Experience working in a fast paced environment is preferred.
    • Experience with a hardware/software integrated product in a manufacturing environment preferred.

At Carbon, we look at the person holistically and carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation. The pay range for this position is $198,000 - $298,000. Your actual salary will be based on your experience, work location, certifications and the unique skills you bring to the role. If you are not based in our Redwood City office, the range above will be adjusted for the geographical differential associated with your actual work location.
