The Department: Software Engineering 

Gemini is regulated and licensed like a bank, but it’s run like a tech startup, and engineering is the core of the company. There’s a wide range of tough problems to solve at Gemini – from properly securing hundreds of millions of dollars worth of customer funds, to developing innovative new blockchain products, to finding new techniques to combat fraud, to shaving microseconds off our API response times, and everything in between.

All of Gemini’s engineers are able to work across the software platform, not just on their own specialization or subteam. We value a thoughtful, collaborative software development process, coupled with a pragmatic approach to problem solving and delivering software.

The Role: Senior Mobile Engineer (React Native), Design Systems

Our mobile engineers are experts at making Gemini's mission clear and accessible to our customers through intelligent development of well-designed visual elements. An ideal candidate will have a strong aptitude for identifying opportunities to improve user experience, robust experience translating design frameworks into code to improve the Gemini mobile app, and a proactive desire to collaborate with fellow developers, designers, and marketing managers to present a shared artistic vision.

Responsibilities:

• Focus on technical decision making, leading work that specializes in inclusive design initiatives and accessibility
• Consistently deliver code that sets the standard for quality and maintainability
• Gain a broad understanding of our architecture and how your domain fits within it
• Systematically think through potential design impacts on other teams and the company
• Act as the go-to expert in an area, with an increasingly strategic mindset
• Influence others about technical tradeoffs & decisions
• Work with key stakeholders effectively to solve problems and make decisions

Qualifications:

• 4+ years of mobile development experience with React Native and a native mobile platform with iOS or Android
• Can contribute best-practices to our React Native codebase and provide insight on the latest innovations in the mobile industry
• Experience in TypeScript/Javascript and experience using Swift/Kotlin for native modules
• A strong understanding of UX/UI concepts and interface usability with a demonstrated record of good design flow in interactive applications
• Demonstrated experience working with data displays and/or large data sets
• Experience building Design System(s) to create cohesive and inclusive experiences across all environments and contexts.
