Senior Staff Accountant

Mimecast is looking for an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join our North America Accounting and Finance organization. We are looking for someone with a desire to work in a fast-paced environment, with strong technical accounting and analytical capabilities and outstanding communication skills. The right candidate will be a key participant in our monthly and quarterly close process.

Responsibilities:

Provide day to day accounting operations support.
Maintain, interpret, and report timely and accurate financial data.
Prepare journal entries and monthly account reconciliations with adequate levels of documentation.
Participate in the monthly close process including working closely with multiple teams to communicate, report and resolve close issues.
Marketing and non-marketing open PO accruals and monthly expense analysis: monitor accrual balances and coordinate with business to ensure accruals are adequate.
NetSuite Fixed Assets Ledger maintenance, including review of system depreciation calculations, impairment testing, disposals, and reporting.
Intangibles amortization entries and accounts reconciliation.
Support lease contracts review to ensure accuracy and record monthly lease entries in NetLease/NetSuite.
Support the analytics process, including preparing and reviewing flux and variance analyses for balance sheet and income statement accounts and provide meaningful explanations and insights into account movements.
Prepare and provide additional analyses for management reporting.
Prepare and review schedules in support of external audit requirements.
Ensure ongoing compliance with SOX and maintain appropriate SOX controls as the business environment changes as a result of process, system, and policy enhancements.
Act as a finance business partner in providing information and support to other departments of the company.
Identify and implement process improvements.
Work on other ad-hoc projects as deemed necessary in a changing environment.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years of related experience
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or another relevant field
Strong working knowledge of US GAAP
Strong communication, problem solving and analytical skills.
Strong documentation skills
Month-end close experience and advanced excel skills
Strong accounting software skills, Netsuite preferred
Diligent, accurate and trustworthy with a high level of integrity
Takes responsibility for own work
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Flexible, supportive, and helpful to other team members and to other departments
Outstanding oral and written communication skills
Ability to build strong cross-functional relationships and work collaboratively
Ability to meet tight deadlines, work independently and as a strong team player
Attentive to detail, organized and thorough with the desire for continuous improvement
