Senior Systems Engineer

As part of the Sartorius BioAnalytical Instruments group, as the Senior Systems Engineer, you will have an exciting opportunity to utilize their systems knowledge to contribute to the design and development of instruments used in the life sciences market.

This role requires thorough understanding of system design and system integration tools and methodologies to bring together pieces from the different functional elements of Mechanical, Electrical, Fluidics and Software engineering for the iQue product platform. The iQue product platform integrates robotic laboratory automation, flow cytometers (analytical instruments for measuring cells and particles), and informatics software to rapidly analyze samples and convert generated data into useful information for our customers.

This position will contribute to the development and review of engineering requirements, perform systems integration and test, and conducting experiments and research activities.This role requires thorough understanding of system design and system integration tools and methodologies to bring together pieces from the different functional elements of Mechanical, Electrical, Fluidics and Software engineering for the iQue product platform.

This position will contribute to the development and review of engineering requirements, perform systems integration and test, and conducting experiments and research activities.

What you will accomplish together with us

  • Design and conduct system level characterization and verification of complex systems; collect, organize, analyze, and document test results
  • Lead/perform the management and development of user needs and product requirements, including verification, and validation
  • Lead/Perform Risk assessments
  • Ensure quality in a product's design for usability, reliability, functionality, marketability, and manufacturability
  • Provide engineering support for the design and development of instruments
  • Support the organization's intellectual property strategy by documenting data and independent, unique and patentable ideas that results from experimentations and concept generation activities

What will convince us

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Biomedical Engineering (or Science related field)
  • Demonstrated ability to apply systems engineering principles to the development of new products
  • 8+ years of experience in systems engineering
  • 1+ years of experience with flow cytometry
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail
  • Ability to manage/prioritize multiple projects at the same time
  • Experience with flow cell design for commercial instrumentation is a plus
  • Experience with micro-fluidics is a plus

Compensation for this position will be a base salary between $145,000.00 and $175,000.00 plus bonus depending on experience. (Higher starting salaries may be available in other locations based on geographic differentials.)
