Senior Technical Proposal Writer Consultants

Primary Responsibilities:

• Conducts research and desk study of key documents related to the proposal subject and context
• Participates in capture trips, as needed, meeting with clients, partners, and local staff, and gathering operational and technical information and country context, and submitting meeting notes and trip reports
• Supports the Technical lead Writer in developing a detailed proposal outline based on RFP/RFA and compliance matrix
• Participates in proposal strategy and design sessions, assisting the Technical Lead Writer in incorporating win themes, competitive themes, and other strategic content into the proposal outline, and identifying gaps in responsiveness to the solicitation that need to be addressed
• Working with the Technical lead Writer, supports the MEL Specialist in drafting the M&E and CLA sections
• Works with the Technical Lead Writer and other staff, helps integrate a gender approach into the draft
• Contributes to development of conceptual graphics, organizational charts, and implementation plans
• Works with the Technical Lead Writer and other subject matter experts to prepare technical material for proposals, including interviewing experts and/or reviewing and revising text prepared by experts
• Contributes to other sections as appropriate, including Management and Key Personnel
• Supports the Technical Lead Writer in providing writing inputs to the Blue Team and Red Team drafts and incorporating feedback into the final proposal

• Master’s degree in international relations, international development, business, or related field and or a Bachelor’s degree and at least 10 years of relevant experience
• Seven years of experience developing and writing successful proposals to USAID
• Familiarity with USAID requirements for proposal compliance and responsiveness
• Strong technical writing, editing, capture, and design skills
• Ability to synthesize large amounts of information into concise narratives
• Knowledge of competitive proposal processes and the role of a proposal writer in those processes
• Strong organizational management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, adhere to tight deadlines, and respond with flexibility in a fast-paced environment
• Strong knowledge in the international development field and competitive market in economic growth and Creative’s areas of technical focus
• Commitment to international development and a values-driven work environment

• Facilitation or storyboarding experience or training
• Expertise in gender, M&E, CLA, co-creation
• Proficiency in a second language
• Experience using SharePoint
