The Team

The Stage and Replay team provides event organisers and attendees with the most delightful, immersive and interactive experience throughout the whole event lifecycle and across events. Hopin Stages offer immersive and impactful broadcast experiences to unlimited audiences. Organisers can connect to easy to use tools that enable reliable, professional production and audio-visual standards. The team develops supporting tools and experiences that make attendees and speakers feel connected during the presentation, and allow attendees to maximise the value of speaker content whether they are attending virtually or onsite. 

Replay enables attendees and organisers to continue and deepen their connection after the event, either through engaging with event content or through connecting directly. The team develops tools to allow attendees to maximise the value of their event participation by discovering and consuming relevant content they were unable to reach or fully explore during the event, whether they attended virtually or onsite.  

The Stage and Replay team is looking for someone based in a European time zone.

We are looking for a self-motivated senior engineer with a passion for our business and for technology innovation. You will be writing logic and exposing API’s in a Ruby on Rails backend with the opportunity to contribute to React on the frontend.

You’ll work with live streaming and video technologies and/or 3rd party services to help us be advantageous in the market. 

You’ll use your experience to improve our existing backend architecture as Hopin continues to scale

Delivering software built with reliability and tests from the get-go

Strong understanding of different software development practices, infrastructure, and how each can help ship more value to customers

You understand when it’s worth refactoring versus when it’s good enough to ship now

Ability to meet both technical and customer needs

Who You Are

Experience architecting and building highly available and scalable backends

Experience with Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kubernetes, Terraform

Familiarity with front-end technologies, such as React, JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS3

Solid experience working in an agile development environment

Passion for clean and appropriately tested code

Self-driven and motivated to learn new skills

T-shaped, must have capability across the entire stack and expertise in your area.

Great communication skills in a remote environment
