The Market Research and Communications Specialist develops and implements marketing strategies and plans to drive store sales. This position provides support to the sales team by generating excitement, increasing sales for key accounts, and achieving organizational growth and profitability. The position develops marketing campaigns, promotional materials, and sales tools from research, analysis, and application of shopper and sales data and insights.
Strategic Sales Support Responsibilities:- Implement key business, strategic, and engagement objectives defined and directed by business leaders on each assignment. Focus on a customer or brand-centric approach to coordinate research and define program development goals and strategies.
- Work with account managers to understand key vendor information, annual plans, goals, and objectives to and ensure that all recommended program concepts are based on customer/category/brand insights and designed to meet goals.
- Demonstrate effective and timely communication of key, strategic messages to correct audiences.
- Responsible for “telling the story” with various Sell-Sheets, Category Reviews, Guidebooks, Year-End Reports.
- Ensure necessary integration across groups at Serv-U-Success. Involve the University, Project Management, or Account/Sales groups as much as possible to develop fully integrated programs.
Category and Shopper Insights:- Utilize Meijer MIX, Dunnhumby, Nielsen, and syndicated research tools to gather and present data on customer demographics, buying habits, and preferences, competitor activity, and consumer and industry trends.
- Leverage analytical insights to develop actionable stories and uncover opportunities to drive growth for items/brands/categories (Incentive Programs, Category Reviews, Ad Hoc Reports, Sell Sheets, etc.)
- Presents data and analytics to internal and external customers, in a manner that is understandable and actionable (Incentive Programs, Category Reviews, Ad Hoc Reports, Sell Sheets, etc.)
Marketing/Project Management/Tasks:- Project management of incentive programs from the development of the concept, budget, prizes, timing, presentation, retail communication, implementation, results, recaps, and financial reporting and prize coordination.
- Builds communication tools, sell sheets, and sales recaps used at store level to secure incremental display space; assists in building relationships and trust between our Serv-U store teams and Meijer store teams with a consistent message and standards.
- Assist in the development and messaging strategy of PowerPoint presentations for key business meetings that clearly convey sales story and business objectives (Quarterly and Annual Reports, Financial updates, Service Presentations, Business pitches)
- Collects data and organizes information from surveys, media platforms and other resources including photos, audits, etc.
- Provides support for other marketing initiatives – logo store, period directives, university presentations, etc.
Desired Education, Skills & Experience:- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related education & experience required
- 3 years in a sales and service industry, with a demonstrated track record of successful project management and development of marketing programs
- Experience in data collection and analysis of syndicated data, survey responses, POS reporting and marketing campaign performance with the ability to providing actionable insights and recommendations for optimization
- Create, manage, and execute multi-channel marketing campaigns (communication strategy and execution)
- Content and messaging creation: Develop Engaging and Relevant Content for Various Marketing Channels and organization communication platforms (email, 365, Viva Engage, etc.)
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
