Position Summary

Engages in verifying and keeping records of incoming and outgoing shipments and preparing items for shipment. Handles delivering freight and packages to areas within the department.

Job Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness and condition of shipments.
  • Ensures paperwork is filled out, completed and signed by the proper department personnel.
  • Ensures that all departments are immediately notified of items delivered.
  • Moves freight daily from receiving docks and delivers to appropriate area within the department.
  • Picks up perishable or other emergency packages and delivers to department.
  • Assists in moving and arranging office furniture and equipment.
  • Serves as backup to the mail clerk during times of vacation or illness.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Some shipping and receiving experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff and general public.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent high school certification.

Grade

G04-H

Salary Range

$15.60 - $20.83 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
