How we’ll deliver success:

We are looking for a Solutions Architect to be the Technical Lead for our largest partners. This position will report directly to the Director of Engineering and partner with a Technical Program Manager to build a visceral understanding of our partners needs, create solutions, generate API specifications, and work cross functionally with product teams to deliver value.

An ideal candidate will have strength in building relationships and partnerships, navigating complex domains, coupled with depth and breadth of technical expertise to provide robust solutions, with automated acceptance tests to meet partner needs. 

Shipping & handling responsibilities:

- Interface directly with large company partners and build a strong working relationship

- Determine the why behind the partner needs and drive solutions towards the actual need

- Work directly with other teams, leading engineers, and being accountable for partner initiatives

- Define API specifications, capture use cases and detailed scenarios 

- Create solution architectures using Shippo approved infra, technology, and processes

- Use partner needs to drive scalable solutions that can expand our product portfolio and made generic for other partners and customers to leverage new capabilities

- Generate and scale automated acceptance testing (BDD, Contract Testing, TDD) for partner and customer’s that validates and verifies API behavior

• 8+ years of experience in software development
• 5+ years leading teams
• Experience engaging and interfacing with customers, clients, and partners
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with all levels of the organization
• Experience and success building and supporting scalable APIs, services, or applications
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming and familiarity with various design and architectural patterns.
• Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Deep understanding of customer needs and passion for customer success
• Ability to look ahead to identify opportunities, foster a culture of innovation, and build for scale
• Coding experience in server-side programming languages (e.g. Go, Python, Java, Ruby) as well as database languages (SQL)
• Experience working with server-side MVC frameworks (e.g. Django, .NET, Spring, Rails, Phoenix)
• BS or MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

• Prior experience working or interacting with shipping and/or postal carriers
• Experience using GoLang and Python in production
• Familiarity with microservices architectures
• Experience integrating with APIs that use REST, SOAP, gRPC and other technologies

Our Compensation Shippolicy:

We believe compensation is a custom experience and are commited to fair and equitable compensation practices. The standard base pay range for this role is min $200k to a max $240k annual salary. Since we are focused on hiring Shippos Everywhere, we have 2 US pay ranges, a standard compensation range for the majority of the US and a standard +1 compensation range for those who live in areas where the cost of labor is higher, such as NYC and California.

The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: financial budgets, work experience, training, transferable skills, business needs, and market value. The base pay salary ranges are subject to change and may be modified in the future. Total compensation for this role will include, equity, medical, dental, vision and other benefits noted in our Shippos “package” section.
