Why HomeVision

HomeVision is building products to modernize and revolutionize the real estate valuation industry to create a more efficient, transparent, and equitable US housing market. Our first products leverage technologies such as NLP and computer vision to automatically underwrite appraisals for the mortgage industry and utilize large data sets to help appraisers create valuations more efficiently.

We’re well-funded by Initialized Capital, seeing good traction, and quickly growing our revenue, product, and team. We’re seeking a senior engineering contractor who can grow and architect our technology platform as well as grow and mentor our engineering team.

This role requires strong empathy for our users, the capacity to understand complex ecosystems and requirements, and the ability to guide and build pragmatic technology solutions for business products. You’ll also need to have an interest in fintech, financial services, or real estate. You’ll work directly with the co-founders to build our vision of how the valuation industry should work.

What you’ll do:

Automating complex business policies is at the heart of HomeVisionʼs product. As a policy engineer, youʼll be responsible for building and maintaining our custom policy framework for writing and executing business rules and policy. The framework is written in Golang and incorporates modern software methodology into its operation.
You will work directly with subject matter experts to translate business requirements into deployable code, supported by robust automated tests. Additionally you will define and build improvements to the policy framework to improve and make your own workflow more efficient. This is a terrific opportunity to begin or grow your career in software development.

What you’ll bring:

  • At least 1 year of work experience.

  • Strong desire to learn about modern software development practices

  • Strong organizational and communication skills, including leadership potential

  • Attention to detail

  • Basic understanding of software development and testing

  • Ability to track, guide, and report on your work clearly to the rest of the company and team

  • Ability to onboard and coach new members of the team

Bonus points:

  • Experience writing in a typed language like typescript or golang

  • Challenge defense + Live Coding (TBD)
