Site Reliability Engineer - Managed Services

We're looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to accelerate our mission of learning from the experience of every patient by scaling teams’ ability to deliver value that our customers can trust. Here's what you need to know about the role, our team and why Flatiron Health is the right next step in your career.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will ensure that development teams across the organization are able to effectively use our engineering platforms and tools. Along with engineering and maintaining reliability, performance, and agility across multiple engineering platforms and technologies, you will also be a part of a support organization dedicated to delivering a frictionless development experience to Flatiron Health Engineering teams.

As technologies, tools, and platforms proliferate and scale in a cloud-native world, developers are often asked to build and ship products in an environment that is constantly shifting and evolving. This leads to uncertainty, anxiety, and missed opportunities to increase productivity and reliability. You will work closely with engineering teams, develop world-class documentation and provide first-line support for the most complex and interconnected toolsets that our developers use on a daily basis, ultimately ensuring that developers are using the right tools in the best ways. In addition, you'll also:

  • Develop an engineering and support culture where rigorous reliability engineering can live alongside world-class developer support and product evangelism
  • Maintain, Operate, and Support a wide variety of cloud-native infrastructure and developer platforms used by Flatiron developers on a daily basis
  • Craft solid and clearly explained designs, playbooks, and documentation, for consumption by teammates and the larger engineering organization
  • Empower development teams to adopt unfamiliar tools by decreasing adoption anxiety
  • Be proactive in performance & availability monitoring; provide remediations for systemic issues
  • Actively participate in on-call duties
  • Work as a team on escalations, resolving critical issues that impact our high SLA production systems

Who You Are

You're an Engineer with a strong background in production support roles and reliability engineering. You're excited by the prospect of rolling up your sleeves to tackle meaningful problems each and every day. You’re a kind, passionate and collaborative problem-solver who seeks and gives candid feedback, and values the chance to make an important impact. You are compassionately persuasive and are excited about outreach and improving the environment around you. Additionally:

  • You have experience supporting complex development environments utilizing a wide variety of interconnected platforms and technologies
  • You have experience with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • You have experience working with a production environment with high uptime requirements and measurable SLAs
  • You are familiar with container technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or Mesos
  • You are proficient with configuration management, orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Ansible and Terraform
  • You have demonstrated the ability to deliver high-quality, on-time solutions that are reliable, scalable, and maintainable
  • You prefer working in a dynamic environment, comfortable challenging the status quo
  • You believe that a team working well together is truly smarter than the single smartest person on that team

If this sounds like you, you'll fit right in at Flatiron.
