Director Real Estate & Facilities

Job Description

The Director of Real Estate will oversee SIXT’s national real estate portfolio, including all active rental locations and development projects. This role is responsible for managing landlord relationships, leading lease negotiations, conducting zoning and entitlement reviews, and ensuring timely and accurate lease administration and billing. In addition, the Director will support facilities management across the network and ensure compliance with environmental regulations, including oversight of fuel and car wash infrastructure, Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans, and related operational protocols.    

YOUR ROLE AT SIXT 

  • You negotiate, draft, and review lease agreements across the national portfolio
  • You conduct zoning and entitlement reviews to support expansion and operational continuity
  • You oversee lease administration, billing accuracy, and cost-saving opportunities
  • You manage relationships with landlords, brokers, and municipal agencies
  • You provide environmental compliance oversight including SPCC plans, stormwater, and hazardous material storage (e.g., oil and fuel tanks)
  • You support resolution of facility-related issues, including maintenance coordination and capital planning
  • You evaluate current and potential properties to ensure alignment with operational goals
  • You collaborate cross-functionally with Expansion, Construction, Facilities, Legal, and Finance teams    

 

YOUR SKILLS MATTER

  • Experience You have 10+ years of experience managing large commercial real estate portfolios is required; experience in airport, industrial, or automotive-related real estate strongly preferred
  • Additional Experience You have familiarity with environmental compliance standards (SPCC, stormwater, hazardous materials) and experience with fuel systems and car wash infrastructure is a plus
  • Technical Proficiency You are proficient in zoning, permitting, entitlement processes across multiple US jurisdictions, lease management tools, CAD and Bluebeam experience
  • Soft Skills You have exceptional communication, negotiation, organizational skills and ability to independently manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Commitment to Excellence You are success-oriented and willing to take on multiple tasks   
  • Travel You are flexible and willing to travel domestically up to 25%   and ability to accommodate multiple time zones and urgent site needs
