Software Engineering Manager (m/f/d)

Job Description

You will be leading a team of software engineers which do projects in the revenue management area with focus on getting the most out of our fleet.

One is an ambitious project focused on optimizing fleet planning for the future. Aims to understand, predict, and plan the perfect fleet for the upcoming year by analyzing historical and forecasted demand alongside costs, the goal is to maximize margins, enhance utilization, and secure a leading position in the market ahead of our competition.

Another one, also critical but more on tactical and immediate decisions, that seeks to manage the current fleet available for renting and take data backed decisions - past and forecasted data - regarding fleet movements across branches, ensuring the optimal margin transfers, infleet optimization to ensure right cars are delivered to right place and defleet optimization to optimize decisions related to earlier/later defleets and respective cost aspects.

YOUR ROLE AT SIXT:

  • You will lead and grow a team of smart software engineers on a mission of constant development, enabling them to meet their personal and organizational goals.
  • You evangelize modern engineering practices and empower engineers to make technical decisions: engineering manager != tech lead
  • You embody servant leadership, prioritizing serving and empowering your team rather than exerting control. You champion autonomous teams, guiding them through decision-making processes. With innate people skills, you adeptly coach, mentor, and inspire others to elevate their abilities.
  • You possess a product mindset, collaborating closely with the product owner to shape the product vision, while also demonstrating an understanding of and proficiency in managing the delicate balance between time to market and accumulating technical debt.
  • You understand that it is all about execution and delivery of value, even when roadmaps and priorities change often. You do not limit yourself by boundaries between IT and other departments.

Qualifications

YOUR SKILLS MATTER:

  • You have proven experience in managing and leading software engineering teams to success.
  • You have a strong technical background that that you have applied numerous times in different complex projects. You have worked with AWS, Azure or GCP.
  • You have strong communication skills and able to adapt your language to the audience – more technical when speaking with engineers, more functional when speaking with stakeholders.
  • You are knowledgeable about agile methodologies and their application in dynamic environments.
  • You recognize the value of feedback, both when offering it and when receiving it, viewing it as a gift that fuels growth and development.
