Job Description
Wellesley College is recruiting a social media manager to join the storytelling team of Communications and Public Affairs. This person will be responsible for the College’s social media presence, producing engaging content that reflects the College’s voice and brand while connecting with prospective students, current students, alumnae, and community members. They will monitor engagement on the College’s platforms, responding to comments and questions as needed, and assist in developing strategies to increase account followers and engagement. They will help identify industry trends and help maintain and coordinate the social media editorial calendar. This position reports to the director of editorial and social media, and works closely with the College’s videographer, the Communications and Public Affairs team, and social media colleagues from other departments.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Create engaging content for social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) that promotes Wellesley student life and educational experience, and other College initiatives/messages.
  • Engage with and respond to inquiries/comments on various platforms in a timely manner.
  • Develop strategies to increase followers and engagement.
  • Stay current on social media trends.
  • Address and report complaints, insensitive content, copyright infringements, negative press, etc.
  • Report on analytics to the director of editorial & social media.
  • Meet and collaborate with internal stakeholders.
  • Manage student workers
Education: Bachelor’s degree
Work Experience: 3+ years working in social media
Preferred Skills:
  • Ability to create engaging content via photography, text, and video, and experience using design apps like Canva.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with public and College stakeholders.
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Outgoing, enthusiastic and creative.
  • Flexibility to be present for programs and events outside of typical working hours.
  • Familiarity with paid ads/Facebook ads
