Software Development Engineer in Test, Mobile Applications
Our Mobile Applications Test team focuses on building easy to use systems but keeping things simple and bug free is not without challenges. The problems are complex, and the solutions must be elegant.
Sonos needs high-energy, innovative engineers to help fuel our rocketing success. We are setting new standards for the audio industry and reshaping the way consumers engage with music. As an Application SDET you will be responsible for the software that our customers interact with every day. You’ll be applying your creativity and engineering skills to help build brand new, robust, feature sets that enable customers to configure their systems and control the content that they listen to.
An ideal candidate will be highly customer focused, data driven, passionate about quality and have a proven record of working effectively across functional organizations and various disciplines. In addition, the ideal candidate is someone who loves to code and will have a proven track record of developing and using telemetry to improve quality. They should be a technical leader capable of driving product instrumentation and automation strategies with a data driven quality approach.
What You’ll Do
Dive into the Sonos system architecture and experience, which includes mobile controllers, cloud, restfulAPIs, and Web, learning through first hand experience
Monitor, debug and improve our automated & analytics infrastructure
Add and democratize new forms of telemetry, data, and metrics to allow the team to measure, debug, and make decisions based on data analytics and dashboards
Own and update the development experience via automated pipelines that includes timely feedback and a seamless path to release-level quality
Create new automation suites
Engineer new automated testing methodologies
Own services from end-to-end by being part of the on-call rotation
Collaborate with different teams when issues are found in deployed/production features
Mentor other members of the team to expand their technical competencies and utilize software engineering best practices
What You’ll Need
Basic Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience programming in Swift & Objective-C OR Kotlin & Java
You have contributed to an app that is available in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store
You are skilled at investigating issues and solving problems
You have experience with common source code control systems (e.g. git), code reviews, version control and code quality tools (e.g.SonarQubes)
Your have great written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
You may have experience with C++, Flutter, or Web Development
Experience or exposure to developing and testing distributed systems
Basic Data Analytics and experience with Tableau, Kibana, DataDog or other system reliability and quality tracking tools
Knowledge of CI/CD automated pipeline, working with mobile based architectures
Experience with UX design tools and specifications (e.g. Figma)

At Sonos we consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, which may lead individual compensation to vary depending on job related qualifications, skills, and experience. All full time employees are eligible for merit increases, discretionary bonuses, and equity. Our job postings may span more than one career level and the base pay range may be modified in the future based on changing market conditions. The starting base pay for this role for all US candidates is between:
$88,000 and $139,700
