What is the Experience Center Academy (XCA) and why was it formed?
The Experience Center Academy invests directly in underserved communities via education, inspiration, and activation, beginning in Louisville, KY. Through a contemporary, human-centered and technology-centered curriculum, the XCA enables individuals towards gainful employment anywhere in a human-centered, 21st Century, digitally-enabled economy as life-long learners.

Responsibilities

The Experience Center Academy (XCA) is a 20-week boot camp-style program designed to radically jump-start the career of an individual in software engineering, with no prior education or experience in technology. Therefore, the program is necessarily rigorous and demanding, and requires full commitment from participants. XCA provides training for full-stack development as a core competency, and job placement training and support upon completion.

The outcome of the program will be a working digital portfolio. You will create your own website to display your project work. Participants will learn HTML, CSS, Java Script, Node, Express and Vue. After completing this internship, you will be able create a full-stack application including databases, authentication, Application Programming Interfaces (API), using modern frameworks.

Required Qualifications

The premier candidate will bring their whole self to this opportunity. Our mission is to provide education in software engineering without the typical barriers to entry, such as a college degree. Therefore, there are no traditional or professional pre-requisites for this role beyond what is legally required to work in Louisville, KY. You do not need previous experience in technology. You will need a strong, demonstrable desire to learn how to code, and the ability to commit to the program in full once an offer is accepted.

Additional Information:

  • This is a paid, full time internship with Humana lasting 20 weeks

  • Hours are 8am -5pm ET (12-1 lunch); this is an eight- hour work/learning day

  • 20-week boot camp-style program from start date

  • Virtual/remote classroom setting

  • Equipment provided

  • Mentorship with Humana full-stack software engineers

  • Assistance with job search upon completion of the program
