Software QA Manager

Job Overview

The Quality Assurance Team is the primary proponent for all quality assurance programs affecting Bastian Solutions - Software. The QA Manager leads the QA group in performing quality testing for existing, enhanced, and custom software to be implemented for Bastian’s clients. The QA Team is responsible for all aspects of Bastian’s quality assurance processes and outcomes. The QA Manager provides hands-on leadership of all Quality Assurance functions for the company. This person manages the development of complete test plans as well as conducts quality, stress, regression, and load tests for software programs developed by Bastian Solutions. The QA Manager oversees complete validation and verification ensuring that all software modules meet functional specifications, software design documents, and end user requirements. This person is also be charged with facilitating the success of all Quality Assurance team members for the same scope of work.

Job Functions

• Ensure safety first culture and practices in all activities
• Implement standard operating procedures where appropriate. Improve and document practices
• Lead QA Team Leads in directing day to day QA activities, mentorship, a career development
• Lead and Grow the automated testing team and activities
• Develop robust and flexible testing procedures
• Proprietary software expert for all Exacta software
• Work with software developers to understand the development process, architecture, and platform for the Exacta package
• Understand requirements traceability and bug tracking processes throughout Bastian’s development life-cycle
• Demonstrate attention to detail in identifying issues with Exacta for product enhancement
• Maintain working test environments that will allow the team to cover all aspects of every Bastian Software project
• Actively participate with senior management in establishing corporate strategic plans and objectives
• Manage testing efforts to ensure quality and timely releases and meet project deliverables
• Partner with Bastian Solution’s Corporate Quality team on Quality Initiatives
• Help determine and provide meaningful Key Performance Indicators for Bastian Software
• Monitor and control utilization of resources
• Works with customer support to troubleshoot problems and validate solutions
• Acts as a champion and a liaison internally for our customers
• Participate in required meetings
• Ensure all QA team members complete all safety, security, and administrative tasks correctly and on time
• Mentor and grow team members to be successful in their roles and careers
• Work with Support and Development groups to complete QA testing of support fixes in a timely basis

Travel Requirements

• Approximately 15% overnight travel (Travel expenses paid by Bastian Solutions)

Preferred Skills and Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with strong quality control, quality assurance and computer skills including: Team Systems, manual and automated testing tools, and various Databases (SQL Server and Oracle).
• Preferred Master's Degree
• While the QA team members do not actually program, the QA team must be able to use Microsoft’s Visual Studio Team Edition and Visual Studio .Net to compile programs
• 20% overnight travel (Travel expenses paid by Bastian Solutions)
