About The Role


We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Community Engagement Director to join Solar Landscape in our Asbury Park, NJ office. As a Community Engagement Director, you will play a crucial role in building and maintaining relationships as we continue to subscribe the many community solar projects we have been awarded. You will be responsible for communicating Solar Landscape’s subscriber messaging to target audiences, including, but not limited to, community partners, subscriber partners, and individual subscribers via the following: professional networking; telephone outreach; printed literature; web-based material; electronic correspondence; public presentations; industry and community events; and verbal interactions.


Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of community engagement specialists across community solar state markets to implement subscription strategies and sustain long-term community outreach partnerships with local, county, and statewide organizations.
  • Oversee and implement community engagement commitments as part of awarded community solar projects, established partnerships, and subscription efforts.
  • Evaluate and cultivate new potential engagement partnerships, sponsorships, and prioritization as new market and subscription priorities emerge, and to increase public awareness and participation with community stakeholders.
  • Set standard operating procedures and messaging for consistent, accurate, concise, and effective outreach through various methods (such as major partner enrollment, case studies, presentations, flyers, etc.); lead and oversee outreach by specialist team across markets to ensure this standard and to meet team goals.
  • Establish standard operating procedures for proper data management and to effectively track community engagement specialist outreach efforts.
  • Participate in and support strategic planning for community outreach in specific communities alongside other staff/departments and key stakeholders.


Qualifications
  • 3 to 4 years of experience in community engagement, public relations, nonprofit or a similar role and bachelor’s degree in energy, conservation, environmental justice, public policy, or related fields.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated success building/managing teams and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proactive, strategic thinker with sound technical skills, exceptional analytical ability, good judgement, and ability to collaborate.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead an internal team and collaborate with external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Background in non-profits and/or government is preferred.
  • Knowledge of community solar across markets is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to other states.
  • Availability to attend events after normal business hours such as evenings and weeknights.
