Special Collections Processing Intern

Under the supervision of the Technical Services Archivist, intern will be responsible for cataloguing, describing the papers of 5 New Jersey politicians. Intern must have archival experience and the ability to work independently following a hands-on training period with the Technical Services Archivist.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Apply arrangement and rehousing best practices
• Work with a variety of format types and apply skills based on need of item
• Describe collection in ArchivesSpace and apply controlled vocabulary
• Flag items in poor condition and create unique housings for certain materials

Required Qualifications:

• Experience processing archival collections
• Current or recent coursework in archives at the graduate level
• Bachelor's Degree

Desired Qualifications:

• Knowledge of New Jersey History

Salary Grade:

• Staff Non-Union - SN120

Exempt/Nonexempt:

• non-exempt

Physical Demands:

• General office environment
• Ability to lift 25 lbs., bending and standing for long periods
