American Fire is currently seeking a Special Hazards Senior Project Manager to join our Fire Protection Team based in the Southeast. Ideal locations for this position include Birmingham, AL; Cullman, AL; Nashville, TN; and Charlotte, NC.
YOUR IMPACT:
  • Responsible for preparing Special Hazard Fire Protection proposals including development of scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Monitors and reports work status, progress, and performance for leading projects. Accountable for project and task budgeting and reporting; project economics including project reports; percent complete; invoicing, collections, and project closeout
  • Technical credibility; understands industry trends and products; understands technical tools and methods
  • Accountable for building, growing, and maintaining client relationships
  • Ability to work autonomously manages projects and proactively escalates issues to management.
  • Manages larger or more complicated project portfolios.
  • Have the ability to bid projects and negotiate pricing as well as follow procurement rules with guidance from managers.
  • Conducts regular project progress meetings with client manager and provides progress reports to manger
  • Responsible for all project financials including revenue, multiplier, gross margin, budget, forecast, cash flow, subcontractor billings/payments, and manages project to maintain positive cash flow throughout its life cycle.
  • Provides high level of service and responsiveness to the client and co-workers
  • Assists other team members
  • Responsible for developing a comprehensive project schedule, communicating updates to the client, management and project team; manages project to completion through project scheduling, expediting of required submissions and the management of the document submittals/approvals; exercises judgment and discretion and implements project controls while maintaining project quality.
  • Responsible for coordination of contracts with client, subcontractors, invoices, purchase orders, critical daily correspondence, and all other project related documents; maintains a set of contract documents that contains all the current contract changes and clarifications.
  • Independently examines both contract drawings and shop drawings for errors.
  • Develops project plan and Quality Management Plan as required. Prepares for and attends monthly Project Review Meetings with Operations.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Associate degree preferred or equivalent field experience
  • Minimum NICET Special Hazards Systems Level III certification required
  • NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level II or better preferred
  • 7+ years of Fire Protection experience required; 5+ years of project management experience required.
  • Design and Project Management experience in Special Hazards Fire Protection systems including clean agent, high & low expansion foam and CO2 as well as electrical releasing systems associated with these.
  • Field installation, functional testing, and commissioning including room integrity testing preferred
  • Experience preparing proposals, project plans, change orders and project closeout documents for projects required.
  • Experience understanding and interpreting client contract requirements.
  • Ability to track and oversee multiple projects required up to and including $7,500,000.00.
  • Experience utilizing problem-solving skills, exercising discretion, and making independent judgments required.
  • Experience managing project accounting processes to include project budgeting and forecasts required.
  • An articulate and persuasive communicator, both one-on-one and in front of large groups required.
  • Must have good written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal and leadership skills required.
  • Strong ability to work in a team environment required.
  • Experience and knowledge of interfacing both Fire Alarm and Special Hazards systems. Notifier fire alarm and Viking clean agent experience is preferred.
  • Manufacturer training and certifications preferred
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing client relationships.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office suite required proficient in overall computer skills.
