SmithGroup is looking for a Specifications Writer to join our team. This position can be located near any of our offices. A completely remote option is also available.
Working with us, you will:
- Provide leadership and advice to all offices in the firm regarding specifications and their relationship to other areas of the practice such as BIM, discipline standards and Quality Assurance/Control.
- Create and implement specifications standards, policy and training of staff in local office/other offices
- Work with project teams to write technical specifications for their projects and support other team s specification writers as necessary to ensure the quality of the specifications on projects.
- Exhibit an understanding of architectural products and services as well as emerging technologies and architectural services delivery and procurement approaches.
- Maintain excellent industry/competitor product and process knowledge by reviewing and understanding our markets and competitive activity.
- Adapt to changes in the marketplace and project delivery.
An ideal candidate has:
- 10-15 years of experience in writing specifications for projects of a size and scope appropriate to our key practice areas (Healthcare, Workplace, Science and Technology, Higher Education).
- Expertise leading and managing master'specifications initiatives across multiple disciplines.
- Experience with BIM, e-SPECS and other emerging technologies, particularly those technologies and software focusing on integrated practice.
- Knowledge of national and local building codes and standards as they relate to product specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiar with database based specifications preparation software is a plus.
- The ability to contribute to and participate in a team environment.
- Professional registration in Architecture or Engineering is preferred.
- CSI-CCS certification preferred.
- LEED accreditation preferred.
