The opportunity

The Teneo Ireland Sports Advisory team is seeking applications for an Associate Director. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone with experience in, and passionate about, the business of sport and the sponsorship industry. The team of 15, working out of the firm's offices in Hatch Street, Dublin 2, is the current European Sponsorship Agency of the Year having also won this accolade in 2021 and 2018 for outstanding work in the industry.

The team is passionate about both sport and sponsorship and, not only delivers world class work on a domestic and international level but ensures and encourages significant contribution on a professional and personal level to the sports industry in Ireland.

The team is seeking a new senior member to contribute to our team by continuing to drive the highest standards of work and being a key player in developing a world class team.

The role

An Associate Director at Teneo is responsible for making a significant contribution to the company's reputation, profitable growth, and retention of clients. Associate Directors have responsibility for leading client accounts and supporting teams to deliver to highest standards. They inspire new thinking and take an active role in contributing to our culture.

Associate Directors play a pivotal role in retaining and developing our best talent both as a client team leader and mentor/coach.

Key responsibilities

Team And People Management

  • Be a strong team leader creating high performing and motivated teams
  • Actively contributes to making Teneo a stimulating, stretching, collegiate environment to work and develop careers

  • Provides strong career development through mentoring and coaching within teams and across the consultancy

  • Establishes long-term senior level client relationships by offering valued, high-level strategic counsel and has a track record of retaining clients
  • Demonstrates strong commercial acumen in managing client deliverables
  • Is highly responsive to, and capable of anticipating, client needs and helps teams exceed expectations

Integrated Execution

  • Build deep understanding of the breadth of Teneo's offer and can actively identify and leverage Teneo resources across the business/regions
  • Identify opportunities beyond own area of expertise to regularly help deliver integrated solutions to client challenges

Global Relationships

  • Builds and uses a strong network of effective relationships with peers and colleagues across Teneo
  • Builds and uses their network of external stakeholders (e.g. specialist experts, media etc.) to serve Teneo and client needs

Business Growth and Commercial Acumen

  • Become ambassador for Teneo by confidently representing all parts of the business and expertise
  • Actively drives growth and new revenue from existing clients and new business lead generation
  • Actively networks to identify new business opportunities and develop the consultancy's reputation with potential clients and prospects and proactively seeks to bring in new business leads
  • Provides strong new business leadership (development of proposals and pitching these to clients or new business leads)

  • Seen as an experienced expert providing direct advice to clients and colleagues, able to draw on past experience
  • Leverages the internal and external expertise of others to advise clients confidently and authoritatively

Intellectual Curiosity

  • Is recognised as being well informed and knowledgeable, actively seeking insight from a broad range of sources
  • Proactively shares their knowledge and expertise with clients and colleagues

Key Criteria

  • 7 years' + relevant work experience
  • A team player with a passion for both sport and sponsorship, and a keen, broad understanding of the sports business industry with experience in communications and sponsorship
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to think ahead and anticipate needs
  • A desire to embrace responsibility and take ownership
  • Ability to take on the challenge of unfamiliar tasks and to influence and challenge when needed.
  • A strong work ethic, with high standards and deep attention to detail – full commitment to the delivery of client service and impact
  • Excellent influencing skills
  • Excellent writing, organisational, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • An ability to work at fast pace to tight deadlines across different client mandates and industry sectors
  • Commercial awareness and acumen
  • A self-starting personality, with real ambition to succeed
  • Experience of delivering impact with both colleagues and clients across multiple industry sectors and disciplines.
  • Demonstrated continuous professional development
  • Excellent MS Office suite and general IT skills
  • Legally authorised to work in Ireland
