SQA Automation Engineer

Hayward Holdings Inc. Hayward designs manufactures and markets a full line of residential and commercial pool and spa equipment including pumps, filters, heating, cleaners, salt chlorinators, automation, lighting, safety, flow control, and energy solutions at our company-owned facilities. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Hayward also has facilities in Tennessee, Arizona, and Rhode Island as well as Canada, Spain, France, Australia, and China. This position is based in North Kingston, Rhode Island.

Reporting to the Manager, Software Quality Assurance Engineering, this position is for an individual who is hands-on, self-motivated, and collaborative enough to join the team and drive the quality of our products to the next level. At Hayward, we define, implement, and run tests focused on embedded devices for validation of hardware and software. One of the main responsibilities includes Designing, implementing, and maintaining manual and automated tests for Software Products. In addition to that, a mid-level SQA Automation Engineer will also be working with other SQA Engineers to analyze, enhance and maintain the existing test suites.

Responsibilities

  • Work with product stakeholders to understand software requirements.
  • Responsible for developing detailed test plans to align with software requirements for maximum test coverage.
  • Drive an effort toward the formal review of the Test Plan with project team members.
  • Break down the software requirements into Test Scenarios to design manual and automated tests.
  • Execute manual and automated test suites and provide detailed test reports.
  • Communicate and document detected defects for further investigation.
  • Track tasks, features, and bugs using Jira cloud in an Agile Scrum environment.
  • Verify defect fixes and run regression cycles as necessary.
  • Improve test coverage iteratively as new features become part of regression and other test cycles.
  • Troubleshoot test issues prior to involving development resources.
  • Assist the development team with replicating and debugging problems and developing new test solutions as needed.
  • Responsible for defect management and maintenance.
  • Review defects that escaped the field to learn how they could have been prevented or detected.
  • Work closely with cross-functional team members and are expected to clearly communicate with all members across all teams.
  • Attend and participate in professional group meetings and stay abreast of new tools and technologies in the field of software testing.
  • Demonstrate accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and stay focused to complete the task.
  • Highly collaborative and willing to play various team roles as needed to deliver quality releases.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 3 to 5 years of industry experience in Software Quality Assurance or Software Engineering
  • Hands-on experience with Python, Java, VBScript, C#, or similar languages
  • Experience in Embedded product automation
  • Experience in Mobile Application Automation
  • Hands-on experience with Appium or a similar automation framework
  • Experience with API Testing using Postman or similar tools.
  • Experience using test management (Zephyr, Testlink), bug tracking (Jira cloud), and source code management tools (SVN, Git, Jenkins, etc.)
  • Demonstrate strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
  • Experienced working with Agile Methodologies and frequent release cycles
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Displays dependability through attendance, follow through, and completion of tasks.
  • Demonstrates teamwork by collaborating with others and exhibiting a positive attitude.
  • Communicates openly, consistently, and directly.
  • Takes initiative and act in a professional manner.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $81,905.00 - $96,675.00 per year
