The Opportunity

The Senior Communications Director, Operations will report to the VP, Communications and directly support the company’s Chief Operating Officer in areas including Executive communications, change management, and strategic communications planning.

The successful candidate will be an expert internal communicator with healthcare industry experience, who will both create organizational communications for our Operations group, and support our Operations group in communicating to the rest of the company. We seek someone who has considerable experience in providing confident counsel to executive leadership; creating highly strategic and strong communications quickly, whether a speech, messaging, talking points or organizational correspondence; change management, navigating and communicating change in a rapidly evolving organization; and communicating the specifics of, and rationale for, structural changes up and down the organization. This candidate will work closely with other leaders of the Operations group.

The successful candidate will report within our larger Communications team, partnering with other Communications colleagues on matrixed projects that include Operations components.

Responsibilities

Develops and socializes communications strategies and messages with senior leadership and operations teams, building executive consensus and support for their efforts.

Creates communications materials (and adapts existing organizational communications) for our Operations group, primarily supporting the COO

Creates communicates on behalf of the Chief Operating Officer to the Operations group, the company’s leadership group, and on occasion the rest of the company

Creates strategic, long-term plans for communicating change

Coordinates with leaders across the Operations group to ensure that communications strategies and messages are aligned in a highly matrixed organization.

Develops, contributes to, and executes a measurement and reporting structure to understand the efficacy of communications strategies and inform systematic improvements.

Manages internal and external resources in the implementation of strategies, with experience in people management.

Translates sometimes-complex business and operational concepts into messaging accessible to all employees.

Oversees multiple change management initiatives simultaneously, developing a strategic approach to their overlap and staging.

Collaborates with others on the enterprise communications team to ensure that communications on operational initiatives are coordinated with the company’s overall internal and external communications plan.

Candidate Profile

Proven results in designing and executing communications plans, and securing buy-in at the executive level.

Strong sense of what makes a good story and the ability to craft compelling narratives

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong Executive presence

Demonstrated ability to communicate concisely and clearly

Knowledge of business operations in the healthcare industry is a plus

Senior level strategic thinker, who can make independent decisions in a fast-moving environment

Highly developed organizational skills and attention to detail

Solid time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and work with all National time zones (the Chief Operating Officer is based on the West Coast)

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks

Significant scaled business acumen, with an understanding of complex organizational operations.

Experience advising and counseling senior executives, with consistent success in positively influencing business decisions.

Track-record of successfully advising and coaching senior executives on communications issues, with specific support for the Chief Operating Officer.

Strong writer who can write quickly at a high level, with minimal editing

Required Qualifications

Previous experience as a Sr. Director or VP of Communications in a B2B organization

13+ years of communications experience (corporate/agency mix acceptable), with a focus on internal corporate, communications. Experience supporting C-Suite level Executives is required.

Communications experience in the healthcare industry

Bachelor's Degree required; Master's highly valued

The base salary range for this position is $174,000-$210,000. In addition to a base salary, this position is eligible for performance bonus, RSU’s, and benefits (subject to eligibility requirements) listed here: Teladoc Health Benefits 2023.
