Alight Solutions is looking for a Sr. Human Resources Retirement Benefits Specialist
As part of an industry-leading team, you will help drive results for our company by delivering innovative and effective solutions as part of our HR Total Rewards business group within Alight Solutions in Lincolnshire, IL.
This role will support the administration of U.S. (including Puerto Rico) and Canadian Retirement benefit programs under the direction of the HR Retirement Benefits Manager. This role will partner across functions to leverage information from different systems, plans, and departments.
Job Responsibilities:
Assist in the delivery of day to day administration tasks for the U.S. (including Puerto Rico) and Canadian retirement programs; covering qualified and non-qualified plans, where applicable. Support the project needs of the benefits team, with an emphasis on Retirement benefits. Daily administrative tasks include reconciling financial and payroll activity with the recordkeeping system, reconciling and quarterly tracking of plan expenses, preparing invoices for payment and creating purchase orders where applicable, and coordinating with vendors to ensure the timely reporting and processing of non-qualified plan payments.
Research and respond to retirement plan inquiries and escalations to ensure a timely resolution. Act as a front-line responder while managing the inquiries that come through the HR Mailbox and Corporate Benefits Email distribution address.
Take lead in some plan related activities such as overseeing the delivery of employee mailings, communications, and live and recorded webinars, as well as overseeing the annual audit (US and Canada primarily) from end to end. The tasks include, but are not limited to, creating colleague articles to share retirement announcements, annual compliance mailings such as SARs and Safe Harbor Notices, and operational deficiency notices as required by law. Auditing tasks will include reviewing plan financial statements and 5500. You will partner with vendors to create project plans to review, track and schedule key deliverables within prescribed deadlines. Less of a role is required for the audit of Puerto Rico retirement plans, but engagement in the process will be required.
Partner with our vendor to develop an annual financial educational initiative (working within our defined budget) for our US (including Puerto Rico) employees, including coordinating with vendor, communication team, and local site leaders to develop marketing/promotional plan and materials to guarantee maximum attendance and engagement. This may include live webinars, onsite workshops, and prerecorded retirement content. For onsite workshops, coordinate with site leaders to market event and ensure availability of room and equipment.
Assist with the development of technical guidance and in implementation of benefit programs, including those as part of a merger or acquisition. Create project plans and other transitional documents to support the implementation of benefit changes or plan merger or acquisition.
Requirements:
HS Diploma required, Bachelor’s degree in HR, Finance, Accounting, or Business preferred
3-4 years of retirement benefits experience preferred
Demonstrate progressive experience in project management including breaking larger deliverables into smaller sizes to accomplish goals
Experience in vendor management – including building teams across internal and external resources; holding teams accountable to details in a contract in a tactful way; tracking costs
Demonstrate relationship building skills with internal and external customers. – including active listening; de-escalation strategies; knowledge of how and when to escalate an issue; as well as resolving problems to a win-win conclusion and with diplomacy
Customer service and communication skills
Proficient in Word, Excel, Power Point, Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and SharePoint
Experience with Workday or other cloud-based systems
Experience working with Summary Plan Descriptions and other plan related documents
Experience of leading annual audits and working closely with the stakeholders involved
Lean Six Sigma discipline – ability to improve processes to make more efficient
Track record showing an increasing responsibility within HR/retirement plan processing
Demonstrate ability to handle confidential and sensitive information in an appropriate manner
Must be able to manipulate large volume of data, formulate data into easy to read formats, and be comfortable telling a story with that data
Self-motivated and able to work in a fast growing, fast moving and demanding environment
Strong analytical and integrative skills including the ability to draw conclusions and identify trends from data in a logical and statistical way.
Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
Flexibility and the ability to multitask is critical
Team player, with the ability to work on wider Benefits and Total Reward projects as required
Desire to learn and display Alight Solutions values including acting with integrity and displaying client, colleague, and community commitment
