SRNL Lead Contractor Assurance Specialist

Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is a multi-program laboratory applying state of the art science and practical, high-value, cost-effective solutions to complex technical problems to protect the nation. Located at the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Savannah River Site (SRS) in Aiken SC, the laboratory develops and deploys innovative technologies to address some of the nation’s environmental, energy, and national security challenges.

We are seeking an experienced Contractor Assurance Analyst to lead functional teams or projects, lead others to solve complex problems and use sophisticated analytical thought to identify solutions. This is a unique opportunity for growth potential to support an expanding National Laboratory.

About the position:
  • Serve in contractor assurance roles that drive operational excellence and discipline through executing and supporting fact-based, risk-informed decision making and continuous learning and improvement.
  • Utilize specialized depth and/or breath of expertise in the field to perform programmatic development, improvement and implementation of the Contractor Assurance System. - Develop effective partnerships and facilitate interactions with various teams across the Laboratory while identifying and responding to abnormal events, securing witness information, investigating facts and processes leading up to abnormal events, categorizing events and drawing conclusions that lead to continuous improvement.
  • Must be customer focused with a demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following Contractor Assurance System (CAS) related areas: assessments; lessons learned, risk analysis, issues and corrective actions management; metrics and trending; enforcement coordination; or working knowledge of investigations techniques which use formal causal analysis tools such as barrier analysis or 5-why analysis. - Have strong interpersonal skills to team well with others as well as the ability to lead, organize and coordinate meetings and projects that involve multiple scientific, engineering, operations, and business disciplines.
  • Interface frequently with contractor assurance staff, researchers, managers, and Department of Energy staff.

Basic Education Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalency with 16 years of demonstrated and relevant experience OR
Bachelors degree in a relevant field with at least 12 years of demonstrated and relevant experience.

Other Required Qualifications

Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

Three to five years of practical experience in nuclear operations and/or a R&D nuclear facility. Trained/qualified in Causal Analysis.
