On the 21st Century Community Engagement Team, our mission is to oversee our stakeholder initiatives, engagement, and operations, ensuring we are serving our stakeholders in all we do. This includes supporting efforts to serve and strengthen communities. Our work is informed by our stakeholder engagement philosophy and we inform policies, practices, and our platform in ways that impact our overall community.

The Stakeholder Engagement and Operations Lead will bring strategic thinking, operational rigor, and business acumen to enable the team to do their best work as we liaise with external partners and communities, and embed valuable insights from partners to inform business decisions aimed at ensuring everyone can see themselves represented in the Airbnb community. This role will look for opportunities to create and implement processes, systems, and tools that will keep leadership, stakeholders, and team members informed of the team’s work, roadmap, challenges, and opportunities as the team scales their delivery and services while becoming more efficient. 


  • Support our engagement with key partners, including managing Airbnb’s brand representation at various events, conferences, and other initiatives. 
  • Operationalize and advance cross-functional initiatives, working with partners across the company. 
  • Research, identify, engage, and manage relationships with third-party organizations. 
  • Work with partners to understand and cascade priorities, review partnership performance, and share updates.  
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure that partnerships align with integrated goals and underpin key business priorities.  
  • Support Airbnb’s work to engage partners around key priorities while serving as a liaison between third-party organizations, partners, and Airbnb.
  • Operationalize Airbnb’s stakeholder engagement work including developing the engagement calendar, managing event representation and sponsorships, and partner engagement with cross-functional teams.
  • Work with Marketing and Communications colleagues and external vendors to develop advertisements that best represent Airbnb to the audiences we are engaging with.
  • Work with internal colleagues to develop in-person engagement plans for activations and events.
  • Facilitate sponsorship payment and track sponsorship against our team budget and timelines.


A Typical Day: 


  • Work with cross-functional stakeholders like Marketing and Communications to define the direction of Airbnb’s brand presence at various events.
  • In collaboration with senior leaders on the Community Engagement team, identify Airbnb or other stakeholders to participate in various events.
  • Help manage the Community Engagement and Partnership Team’s overall planning, roadmapping, and budgeting, to ensure they are accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date. 
  • Communicate roadmap and budget clearly and effectively to all relevant stakeholders. 
  • Help transform the way we build and execute for our community through stellar project delivery and influencing strategic business decisions. 
  • Develop and strengthen trusted, collaborative relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, partners, and senior leaders, keeping them informed of program strategy, progress, opportunities, and changing priorities at all times.
  • Ensure that cross-functional stakeholders are regularly engaged and inspired; support their understanding of their/others roles and are brought along in the work of the Community Engagement team. 
  • Work cross-functionally to create and implement robust frameworks, systems, processes and workflows to ensure that Community Engagement feedback is integrated into other teams and their work where relevant. 
  • Support the organization through improvements to our internal product, policy, and operations development processes, with a focus on enabling cross-functional teams through partner engagement.
  • At times, represent Airbnb publicly at events, including speaking on panels or at other external events.


Your Expertise:


  • 10+ years experience in relationship management, sales or external affairs with exposure to cascading issues and working closely with global, cross-functional partner teams.
  • Ability to cascade sensitive or important information with confidence to a variety of audiences both internally and externally; serving as the voice of the company with communities and stakeholders, and serving as the voice of those stakeholders within the company.
  • The ability to hit the ground running on a growing team, navigate ambiguity, and provide structure and clarity quickly in a rapidly changing environment. 
  • Ability to form strong, lasting, mutually-beneficial relationships with external partners, community leaders, team members, stakeholders, cross-functional partners, and senior leadership. 
  • Strong experience building new team narratives, operational structure, and best practices. 
  • Excellent organizational skills, managing multiple complex projects simultaneously and with multiple stakeholders. Highly organized and effective against time constraints, ambiguity, and a changing landscape. 
  • Demonstrated capacity for strategic, critical-thinking, and analysis. You are able to maintain a strong attention to detail while also understanding the big picture and the value of both perspectives. 
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills especially with uncharted territory and new concepts. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Have an ability to reconcile differing viewpoints and create a compelling story to influence decisions of others. You can adapt your communications to a wide variety of audiences, be they senior leaders requesting concise, exec-level summaries or directly responsible individuals in need of more details and precision. 
  • Working experience with the product development lifecycle within technology, regulations, and/or industry landscape.
  • Comfortable speaking to large audiences and delivering key messages with confidence.


Your Location:


This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at off-sites, as agreed to with your manager. How We'll Take Care of You:


Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits. 


Pay Range

$160,000—$200,000 USD
