Maintains compliance with State and Federal regulations. Represents management in community organizations and in dealing with employees with respect to environmental, health and safety issues per Stanley Black and Decker policies and procedures.
Duties
- Ensure plant’s compliance with State and Federal regulations and Stanley Black and Decker policies and procedures concerning environment, health and safety
- Administer ISO 14001 Environmental Management system
- Coordinates and facilitates activities of EH&S Committee and Central Steering Committee which is comprised of plant staff
- Administer Health and Safety Program along with the Carolina Star program
- Responsible for preparing reports related to EH&S performance and communicating with management
- Provides regular updates to supervisors on EH&S performance
- Administer worker’s compensation program
- Develop a safe and healthy environment where creativity, self-initiatives, and innovation are encouraged for all employees.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested by the Plant Manager
- Conducts individual and group training sessions on Environmental/Safety for all employees to upgrade and/or develop new skills
- Works with safety consultants, vendors, and other technical, educational, and governmental agencies in order to secure educational support and resource personnel needed for approved compliance programs, ie. State & Federal Safety/Environmental, SBD EH&S Guidelines
- Measures the effectiveness of safety/environmental courses to ensure training is being utilized back on the job
- Administer safety incident reporting program
- Administer EH&S audit/self inspection program
Qualifications:
- General knowledge of Federal, State & Local Environmental Health & Safety Regulations
- Develop, implement, and measure safety training and effectiveness
- Ability to work with Computers—proficiency in Excel, Power Point, Word
- Must maintain confidentiality regarding information pertaining to personnel issues and records
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors Degree in a technical discipline such as Environmental Science, Chemistry, or Occupational Safety and Health
- Minimum two to three years experience in EH&S in an Industrial capacity
- An equivalent combination of work experience and education may be considered
Preferred Experience:
- Minimum of five years experience in EH&S in a manufacturing capacity
