Washington St., Suite #310 - Phoenix, AZ 85007Posting Details:Salary: $16.50 hourly RateGrade: 04Closing Date: Open Until FilledJob Summary:Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) is seeking a paid intern.This internship position would assist the Subsequent AMA team in multiple facets: They would work with our Data Specialist to analyze, organize, and understand applications received for the Douglas AMA and Hualapai INA. This intern would also assist in writing RFIs (requests for information) on applications that are deficient in required information.A hybrid work schedule (some work in the office and some work from home) is available for this position.The State of Arizona strives for a work culture that affords employees flexibility, autonomy, and trust. All work, including remote work, should be performed within Arizona unless an exception is properly authorized in advance.Job Duties:The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:Assist the Data Specialist with paper application organization, application scanning, and updatingapplication logs to ensure the most up-to-date information is available.Throughout their time at ADWR, the Data Intern would also receive a well-rounded education of waterpolicy, the different areas of the Active Management Area (AMA) sections.This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team and make a tangible impact on watersustainability efforts.Schedule: Hours may vary up to 40 hours per week.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):The ideal candidate should have knowledge and/or interest in water management.Knowledge of:• Database structure and organization• Information sources and research methods and techniques utilized in water resources managementSkills and interest in:• Working well within a team environment, including establishing and maintaining effective working relationships within the Department, other governmental entities, private and public sectors• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication, written and verbal correspondence• Strong customer service skills• Data entry as well as quality assurance and quality control• Using and creating spreadsheets, databases and statistical systems• Researching, reading, analyzing and evaluating documents• Analyzing and interpreting data to draw conclusionsAbility to:• Develop knowledge of the Groundwater Code, AMA Management Plans, and Departmental rules, regulations, policies, and procedures• Use computers to retrieve, organize, and present water resource management data• Communicate information in a concise and easy to understand format• Provide accurate and efficient customer service to all entities• Use different analytical methods to solve problems• Coordinate and handle multiple projects simultaneously• Establish and maintain effective relationships with various levels of governmental and regulated officials, community leaders and the publicWork alone, work in a team environment, prioritize work activities, set goals, be self-motivated.Selective Preference(s):Candidates must be enrolled in school and pursing a degree in Water resource management, Sustainability, Business, Contracts, Economics or related field.Pre-Employment Requirements:If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, then the following requirements apply: Driver’s License Requirements.All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).Benefits:Gain valuable experience working in a State Agency and organizational knowledge through daily business interactions and job assignments.Interns are not eligible for health benefits.For a complete list of benefits provided by The State of Arizona, please visit our benefits pageRetirement:Positions in this classification may participate in the Arizona State Retirement system (ASRS) .
