This position provides one-on-one assistance to small businesses. The position also develops and provides proactive sector initiatives, educational materials and training to businesses. Professionals in this unit demonstrate initiative, creativity and passion to help small businesses reduce greenhouse gases and contribute to advancing Minnesota’s climate change framework.Minimum QualificationsEnvironmental Specialist 1Two years of environmental protection experience ORA Bachelor's degree in environmental protection or related science field. (Students in their final semester of college should apply for the position and can start after their graduation date.)Environmental Specialist 2Three years of environmental protection experience ORA Bachelor's degree in environmental protection or related science field AND one year of professional environmental protection experience. (Students in their final semester of college should apply for the position and can start after their graduation date.)Both:Ability to manage multiple projects.Ability to gain understanding of the environmental regulator process and state and federal rules.Basic computer skills with proficiency in Word and exposure to Excel and PowerPoint.Good communication and human relations skills to interact effectively with stakeholders and team members.The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency will not sponsor applicants for work visas. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.Additional RequirementsPosition duties may require travel but driving is not a minimum qualification or essential function of this position.
