Salary Recruitment Range: $76,290 - $95,000Salary Grade: NC23Mission of the Department of Insurance:To promote a stable insurance market through unbiased regulation and to protect the lives and property of every citizen in all 100 counties while fostering superior, user-friendly service, courtesy, and respectPrimary Purpose of the Position:The Risk Management Division oversees the State Property Fire Insurance Fund, a self-insurance mechanism for State-owned properties. Its statutory duties include: (1) insuring State-owned properties against fire, lightning, and optionally against windstorm, vandalism, theft, sprinkler leakage, business interruption, flood, and other property perils (GS 58-31-1 to GS 58-31-20); (2) conducting annual inspections of State-owned properties to evaluate fire protection measures, including safety for occupants and contents (GS 58-31-40); (3) inspecting new and existing DOT electrical systems, interpreting State Electrical Codes, and aiding local Electrical Inspection Departments; (4) securing professional liability and other insurance types as authorized for State departments, agencies, and institutions (GS 58-31-25 and GS 58-31-55). Additionally, the Division provides property insurance coverage to Local Educational Administrations (LEA) via the State Public Education Property Insurance Fund (GS 58-31A-1 to 58-31A-55), handles underwriting, inspections, and requested property insurance coverage, offers claims services, maintains reserves, and secures excess insurance for catastrophic events.
