We regularly interact with over 6 million Washington residents and collect nearly $3 billion in taxes and fees annually. We know our services are essential to our customers’ ability to live, work, drive, and thrive and we are committed to ensuring every resident has equitable and meaningful access to our services.If you have a Class A CDL and want to help keep the roads safe through training and compliance, we invite you to apply!As a CDL Compliance Auditor on the LETS team, you will provide excellent customer service, work efficiently, and inform customers about agency services. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include protecting public safety, ensuring regulatory compliance, and conducting audits of CDL Examiners and Training Providers to guarantee they administer tests properly according to state laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. By performing audits, inspections, and investigations, you will assist with legal compliance and departmental standards. Additionally, as a technical resource, you will provide training on the laws and regulations impacting licensees and consumers. These licensing and regulatory duties ensure that licensees meet legal licensure prerequisites and adhere to established business and professional standards.Some of what you will be doing:• Certifying and evaluating CDL Third-Party examiners and Training Providers on behalf of the DOL.• Conducting certification, recertification, and reinstatement actions.• Evaluating examiners to ensure they are delivering skills tests in a manner consistent with DOL and statutory requirements and federal regulation.• Approving and/or Certifying exam routes.What you will bring:• Three (3) years of professional work experience managing, directing and/or conducting audits or investigations and business practices which could include:• Presenting relevant and pertinent information or evidence by professionally engaging with employers, employees, partners, witnesses, licensees.• Providing technical and rule related advice to business owners, their employees, or partners.• Presenting findings to intended parties.• Knowledge of auditing techniques or investigation skills.• Experience must include two (2) years of the following:• Analyzing and interpreting rules, policies, and procedures.• Identifying, collecting, organizing, and documenting data and information for report writing, preparing comprehensive and detailed reports.• Using Microsoft Suite office products.OR• Three (3) years of technical experience in a regulatory or licensing program environment, interpreting and applying laws, rules, regulations, etc.Up to two years of relevant education may substitute year for year for experience.What may set you apart:• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, auditing, business administration, public administration, or other related fields and one (1) year of experience in auditing, management, project management, investigations.• Experience conducting driver license skills test examinations OR training and/or evaluating others to conduct CDL skills test examinations.• Experience building positive working relationships and establishing trust and credibility with partner groups.• Experience developing and delivering training programs or presentations or assisting with training new or less experienced staff.• Completion of a recognized investigator or regulatory auditor training.• Experience or formalized training performing audits, inspections, or investigations of business and practices.• Experience working in DRIVES/POLARIS, user interfaces, web-based applications, and retrieving/updating data from unique department database systems.Additional Requirements of Employment:• Must hold a valid WA CDL Class A without restriction.• Ability to travel statewide frequently to include overnight stays.• Within six (6) months of hire become a Certified CDL Examiner.• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening.• Prior to a new hire, a background check including Abstract Drivers Record and criminal record history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant’s suitability and competence to perform in the position.• In addition, an acceptable fingerprint based criminal history background check is also required for this position, as a condition of employment. Fingerprints will be used to check the criminal history records of the FBI. You will have the capability to review and challenge any record through the FBI.• Pre-hire required Forms• Drug and Alcohol History Records Request• Medical Examiners Certificate• Safety and Performance History Records requestThe above mentioned forms will be requested only of candidates that have been selected to move forward in the hiring processThe Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (49 CFR 391.21) require that all applicants wishing to drive a commercial vehicle list all employment for the last three years.
