Provides highly complex development to support the team’s mission, leads the projects, trains and mentor’s junior or peers’ developers, and works independently of technical supervision.Some of what you will do:As the senior level Software Engineer for the systems within the agency’s Technology Solutions that supports core enterprise systems that include, but are not limited to:• Gambling Information Management system (GIMS)• Case Information Management system (CIMS)• Agency Information Management system (AIMS)• Agency My Account via SAW• Cloud Applications through Microsoft Office 365 tools such as PowerApps, Power Automate, etc.• Modernized Enterprise system (Polaris)Responsible for leading the planning, implementation, and on-going support of development practices on the current systems as well as future cloud-based development platforms.Provides senior / expert level IT services by designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining multi-dimensional web enabled information systems used to provide, manage, monitor and assess data required to make informed decisions at the enterprise, division, and business unit level.Another exciting aspect of this position is the agency is undergoing an important transformation in the technology area and the Application team will be contributing to the effort. The agency has finalized the business requirement gathering phase and is now transitioning to the next crucial stage of the Information Technology Application Modernization Project. This remains a top priority for our unit, and you’ll be a key player, bringing your skills and expertise to contribute significantly to the project’s success. Required Education and Experience:A bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Technology program or a closely related field; AND seven (7) years (full-time equivalent) of progressive information technology experience such as consulting, analyzing, designing, programming, installing and/or maintaining computer software applications, directing projects; providing customer or technical support in information technology. Additional years of experience can substitute for education on a one-for-one basis.OREleven (11) years (full-time equivalent) of progressive information technology experience such as consulting, analyzing, designing, programming, installing and/or maintaining computer software applications, directing projects; providing customer or technical support in information technology.At least three (3) years (full-time equivalent) of professional experience in the software development field.Experience must include:• Proven experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator or in a similar role.• Strong knowledge of SQL and SQL Server Management Studio.• Advanced or expert knowledge in programming and developing applications in the following languages: C#, C++, Visual Basic, JavaScript, VB Script, XML• Use of MS-Visual Studio Development tools to maintain agency and enterprise level systems, developing products in .NET Framework for use in web-enabled, multi-tiered systems.• Developing Web services using current versions of the .Net Framework.• Developing and testing MS-SQL Transact SQL statements.• Developing and testing Microsoft SQL Reporting Services (Local and Remote)• Managing/configuring Internet Information Services (IIS) at the enterprise level.• Providing consultation services to executive or executive support staff to provide innovative solutions for technology challenges.• Interpreting user requirements and software design documentation to be used for software development.• Implementation of adequate security controls to protect sensitive information and the IT infrastructure.• Advanced knowledge in analyzing, defining, optimizing, and/or managing databases and data.Preference may be granted to applicants with the following:• Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 with strong knowledge of and experience with platform capabilities, out of the box configurations, customizations, and integration with other components such as SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange Server, and Outlook etc.Must Have Competencies:• Experience in successfully designing, developing, or implementing applications in the following: ASP.NET, source code management, .NET Framework, Visual Studio, Visual Studio.net.• Experience developing using ADO. Net Entity Framework and Language Integrated Query (LINQ).• Experience using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery for web user interface (UI) design with a focus on usability and customer experience.• Advanced experience in developing conceptual and logical data models and facilitating data analysis meetings with enterprise customers.• Advanced or extensive experience in developing physical data models and performing database utility functions such as database creation, loads, and reorganizations.• Demonstrated knowledge of writing queries - can write a simple query against one table, write left joins against one or more tables, write complex custom queries with multiple databases and record modification, write queries using case statements, write queries using sub selects, and write queries using aggregate functions.• Shows insight into the root-causes of problems. Generates a range of solutions and courses of action with benefits, costs, and risks associated with each.• Remains committed to helping agency staff long after initial solutions have been applied.
