This exciting position supervises and coordinates the daily operational activities of Regional DOSH OSHPRO 3 - Safety Specialists and in some regions, Risk Management Specialists.Are you an internal L&I employee who is motivated and passionate about helping staff and employers maintain a safe working environment? In addition, this position will require travel to a variety of events to provide consultations and training upon business needs throughout the region. We strongly encourage all interested individuals to apply, and allow us to evaluate your combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities demonstrated using an intentional equity lens.Some of what you’ll do:• Assign, coordinate, and evaluate the activities of OSHPRO and risk management consultation staff in delivery of consultation services to employers.• Critically review referrals and consultation projects prior to assignment to an OSHPRO or to meet established performance criteria.• Mentor, coach, advise, and assist regional staff with hazard identification, educational outreach to include providing technical assistance on complex matters, and public relations.• Using the WIN System, review consultation reports for completeness, accuracy, and adherence with Consultation Manual and Regional Audits.• Conduct regional staff meetings to ensure the consistency and uniformity of established policy and procedures.• Periodically participate in or accompanies staff during on-site visits to workplaces to assist in providing consultation, education, and outreach services or evaluate staff delivery of consultation services.• Ensure that performance criteria are established and met by regional staff for fulfillment of OSHA Performance Agreement and DOSH goals.• Advise employers of methods to eliminate unsafe work practices, including ergonomic hazards, applying the hierarchy of controls.• Research accident and injury records for specific industries and employers.• Evaluate worksites and assist employers in developing required safety and health written programs.• Determine employer's compliance or non-compliance with safety and health standards and agency actions consistent with laws, standards, manuals and policies; prepares conclusions and reports for closing conference.• Make referrals to industrial hygiene and risk management consultation.• Prepare written reports in WIN, inputs exposure documentation, data, hazard descriptions, potential effects, recommended actions and corrective measures needed including interim protection.• Through a cooperative effort with Central Office and the Regional Consultation Manager, assist in the development of consultation policies and procedures.• And much more!REQUIRED:• Must possess a valid and unrestricted driver license.Plus one of the following:• Five years of full-time journey level experience paid occupational/industrial safety related professional experience* in a government, military or public health work environment.OR• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university involving major study in occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene, or closely related field AND five years of paid occupational/industrial safety related professional experience* OR three years as an OSHPRO, one of which must be at the 3 level.OR• A Master’s Degree from an accredited university in occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene, or similar field AND three years of paid occupational/industrial safety related professional experience*.• "Related experience" is defined as experience [conducting independent WISHA or OSHA safety and health inspections in the workplace; or regulatory related inspections in the workplace, including construction, manufacturing and other industries; investigating accidents; and writing technical reports] as a Safety & Health Officer, Consultant, Inspector, or WISHA or OSHA inspection, or regulatory related experience.DESIRED:• Supervisory or lead experience in a regulatory compliance environment is highly desirable.• Knowledge of Safety and Health Regulations - Possession of a thorough understanding of both WISHA (Washington Industrial Safety and Health Administration), and OSHA (federal government's Occupational Safety and Health Administration) rules and regulations. Understands, and is able to explain to customers what their business must do to comply with these regulations.• Learns and applies Lean methods to simplify work processes, improve service, reduce delays, and eliminate waste.• Bi-lingual. If hired as bilingual, our top applicant will be required to pass an assessment of your ability to write and speak Spanish fluently. We do not use translating software.
