Psychiatrist 4Full Time, PermanentWashington Corrections Center - Shelton, WAAnnual Salary Range: $223,152 to $300,168The Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Psychiatrist 4 for the Washington Corrections Center (WCC) in Shelton, WA.This position supports the mission by providing quality, timely, medically appropriate psychiatric services (to include assessment, diagnosis, treatment and prescription services) with appropriate electronic and hard copy documentation in accordance with DOC policies and procedures, the clinician's license and job class. The Psychiatrist 4 is an integral part of insuring quality, safe health services and continuity of care for patients served by WCC Health Services. The position is expected to adhere to the standards for quality psychiatric care defined within professional guidelines, the Offender Health Plan, the DOC formulary and other applicable statewide publications and algorithms. Specific clinical expectations and guidelines for DOC mental health are created, governed and monitored by the statewide DOC Health Services mental health leadership team (which includes the Statewide Chief of Psychiatry). The Psychiatrist 4 is a critical element of facility security due to the highly complex and sensitive correlation between mental illness, appropriate prescriptive therapy and behavioral outcomes.If you’ve read this far, it is clear you have a desire to make a difference in public service. This recruitment could be used to fill multiple vacant positions.Provides direct patient services:• Oversight and patient care for all patients assigned to WCC• Manage caseload assigned by HSM1 or designee• Ensure delivery of quality psychiatric services for all patients• Provide Intake Assessments IAW facility processes• Diagnose psychiatric maladies• Identify and prescribe appropriate medications• Ensure all service provision is in accordance with regulatory standards and all DOC policies and procedures to include The Offender Health Plan and the DOC Formulary• Due to the limited hours of patient appointment times available in the clinic each day, all that time will be filled with direct patient contactMeet all documentation required in a timely manner:• Provide proper documentation in the patient medical record• Produce timely, clearly written reports and progress notesOversight of assigned patient caseload for medication compliance, efficacy and safety:• Schedule routine follow-ups to monitor efficacy of treatment strategy• Ensure that medication orders do not expireBe a contributing and supportive team member of the mental health team and the total health services team:• Consistent and punctual attendance• Respectful communication• Provide outstanding customer service (patients, peers, health services and facility leadership, custody and classification staff)Other duties as assigned:• Promote safety; be an active participant, be aware, be alert, act safely and make recommendations• Attend all required trainingRequired Qualifications:• Initial and continuous unblemished/unrestricted license in the State of Washington, as a psychiatrist with prescriptive authority.• Must have strong computer skills and be able, among other things, to enter schedule, monitor and track patient information, place medication orders and communicate via email.• Must be Board Certified with a current, valid license to practice medicine and surgery in the State of Washington, and eligibility for certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.• Possess or meet eligible criteria for Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).• Possess strong interpersonal skills and experience in directing medical operations.• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to communicate orally and in writing with a variety of individuals ranging from correctional administrator and staff health care professionals to patient advocates and other persons.• Must maintain CME credits sufficient to maintain license.• Washington State issued temporary permit. Failure to obtain a license will result in immediate termination from the position by the appointing authority.
