Salary: $108,252.00 - $145,536.00 Yearly. The salary does not include an additional 5% premium pay for employees working in King County or an on-site 24/7 facility 5% premium.
The Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) is looking for a Psychologist 4 to provide expert clinical direction for mental health services and co-occurring mental health and substance use treatment services across the Echo Glen Children's Center campus. This job is part of a growing state-wide clinical team that is dedicated to supporting young people with complex behavioral health needs who have been committed to state custody by their local juvenile and adult courts. DCYF Juvenile Rehabilitation is expanding our mental health treatment support in the residential mental health units at our two secure residential facilities in Chehalis and Snoqualmie. The Opportunity:
In this role you are part of a clinical team that includes psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, peer support specialists, occupational therapists, milieu counselors, and program/campus leaders. The Psychologist 4 oversees mental health services on campus and coordination of services for young people who are transitioning between programs or facilities or returning to the community. You will oversee intensive services within two mental health units and support MH services provided in other campus living units. You will report to the JR Clinical Director and work in conjunction with the institution superintendent and serve as the facility Mental Health Authority.
Some of what you will do:
• Provide campus oversight of service delivery, and continuous quality improvement of evidence-informed, best practice therapeutic principles and strategies.
• Oversee and provide guidance and consultation for selection and administration of personality, neuropsychological, gender, and intellectual evaluations.
• Serve as campus Mental Health Authority, and ensure policies and practices comply with standards, and that facility is prepared for NCCHC audits.
• Develop and manage data tracking systems that support compliance with policies and standards, and identify needs, services and outcomes to support quality improvement and resource advocacy and allocation.
• Convene, facilitate, and/or participate in administrative/clinical inter-disciplinary meetings and processes.
• Provide administrative and clinical supervision to assigned clinical positions.
• Ensure screening and assessment of young people is completed using clinical judgment and best-practice principles.
• Coordinate with inter-disciplinary clinicians, family members, agency staff, community partners, and Future Planning Team members to support case management, reentry processes and continuity of care.
• Communicate with various partners to support execution of discharge and aftercare plans, and to advocate for access to resources in support of the young person’s reentry and recovery goals.
• Support program consultation teams and provide individual consultation to clinical and program staff.
• Collaborate with facility and program leaders, and subject matter experts in JR HQ to develop and execute plans for continuous improvement of treatment programs and processes, as well as continuous improvement of therapeutic living environments.
• Provide information, training and consultation to managers, supervisors, and program staff.
• Participate in data collection, research projects, workgroups, and others agency initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
A Doctoral degree in psychology from an accredited school or department of psychology.
AND
Three years of post-doctoral psychology experience, including one year of experience with supervision of professional mental health clinicians.
AND
Possession of a license to practice psychology in the state of Washington, or eligibility to obtain Licensed Agency Affiliated Counselor credential as defined in WAC 246-810-010 based on qualifying education and supervised experience in the State of Washington or in another state or federally recognized tribe with equivalent requirements deemed sufficient for probationary or full credentialing (see RCW 18.83.170), as determined by the Washington State Department of Health.
Degree must be obtained from an accredited college or university whose accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or foreign equivalent verified by a NACES-approved organization at naces.org.
Foreign Equivalency certification must be attached to the application for degrees obtained outside the U.S. Incomplete applications may be screened out of the recruitment process.
In addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will also have some or all of the following:
• One year experience providing direct services in a mental health facility or like agency to JR.
• Experience in training and/or providing Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
• Experience with successfully conducting and/or consulting on clinical programmatic auditing processes (e.g. National Commission on Correctional Healthcare, Department of Health Licensure reviews).
• Experience with implementing, modifying, or continuous quality improvement processes within mental health/co-occurring disorder treatment programs.
• Experience with using principles and strategies of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) and/or related behavioral approaches that consider functional relations between behavior and environment to support responsive treatments with individuals who have intellectual, developmental, learning, and brain trauma-related disabilities.
• Experience administering a variety of psychometric and psychosocial evaluations and assessments.
