They will perform bricklayer, masonry, marble, plaster, terrazzo, and tile maintenance repair at the journey level of skill. Primary work is at the Wisconsin State Capitol, and other buildings managed by the Division of Facilities & Transportation Services.For a complete list of duties, please see the complete position description.Salary InformationThis position is in schedule-range (04-00) with a rate between $45.90 and $47.38 depending on annual leave time selections. A 12-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.This position is represented by the Trades Bargaining Unit.Job DetailsDue to the nature of the position, DOA will conduct background checks on applicants prior to selection. DOA does not sponsor work visas. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States, and to complete the required employment eligibility form.QualificationsThis position requires that the candidate meet one of the following conditions:• Graduation from high school or attainment of age 18 and completion of an apprenticeship approved by the Department of Workforce Development as a Bricklayer and Mason; OR• Formal recognition of status by the appropriate international or local trade organization or some type of similar formal validation of journeyman status may also be accepted; OR• Persons having informal training and experience equivalent to the formal apprenticeship and journeyman status may also be accepted upon submission of documented proof of such training and experience.Equivalent training and experience for this craft: Evidence of having performed a minimum of 4,680 hours of training or experience in the following work processes: (1) laying of bricks; (2) laying of stone; (3) painting, cleaning and caulking; (4) laying of building units; (5) fireproofing; and (6) care and use of tools and equipment, and related instruction including safety procedures.
