Our mission is to unleash the creativity of the internet by building the native IP infrastructure layer of the web. Our tools enables creative IPs — prose, images, audio, and more — to record their evolutionary journey from inception through the endless combinatorics of digital co-creation. Beyond tracking the provenance and attribution of IP as it grows, we also develop modules that power frictionless composability, allowing anyone to contribute to an IP and to capture the value of that contribution.

The Role

We are looking for a highly organized and proactive HR Generalist to join Story Protocol, our blockchain company, as our first HR hire. In this pioneering role, you will develop and implement HR policies, handle employee relations with a focus on maintaining a positive work environment, and partner with team members and managers on key people initiatives such as team relations, engagement, retention, benefits and compensation, onboarding, offboarding, and HRIS management. You will maintain employee records, ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations and labor laws, and serve as a primary point of contact for HR-related inquiries, helping to create order from chaos within our dynamic environment.


Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures tailored to the blockchain industry, including developing a corporate culture.
  • Partner with team members and managers on key people issues and initiatives (performance management, team relations, engagement, retention, benefits and compensation, HRIS management, and more).
  • Serve as main onboarding contact for new hires and contractors.
  • Handle employee relations, including conflict resolution and mediation, with a focus on maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations and labor laws.
  • Participate in developing best in class organizational guidelines and procedures for an innovative, fast paced, and evolving organization.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employees regarding HR-related inquiries and concerns.
  • Oversee and manage the performance review process to ensure timely and effective evaluations.


Who you are
  • You ideally have at least 3 years’ experience as an HR Business Partner or HR Generalist, ideally at a startup or web3 / blockchain company.
  • You’re a go-getter, and comfortable working autonomously and proactively in an environment with lots of unknowns and ambiguity. You are capable of applying your skills across a variety of use cases.
  • We believe in processes and the power of planning, but you will often have to roll with the punches and prioritize the most impactful tasks on the fly.
  • You have a high attention to detail which allows you to identify gaps and missing pieces to minimize opportunities for oversight.
  • You thrive on change, and are passionate about creating and iterating process in a fast paced, reactive environment.
  • You are a creative problem solver and find organizational and scaling challenges interesting.
  • You have strong influencing and communication skills and a knack for building trust and strong relationships.
  • Proficiency with HR software and tools (e.g., HRIS, ATS) and familiarity with blockchain-specific challenges.
  • Experience managing performance reviews and employee relations in a tech or blockchain setting.
  • Understanding of labor laws and compliance requirements relevant to the blockchain industry.
