Our VP Strategy, Corporate Development and Tech Partnership is seeking a Strategy Director with enterprise technology (infrastructure software) experience to join the team. This individual will be based out of Santa Clara, CA (or ability to commute to Santa Clara, CA). Due to the collaborative nature of this role, we are seeking candidates who can accommodate a hybrid work arrangement with 3-4 days per week in-person. The Veritas Strategy team serves as the core “think-tank” of the company and is focused on corporate strategy, market and technology landscapes, customer problem assessment and product ideation, technology/product ecosystem partnerships, and M&A. This is a highly impactful and visible role working with executive leadership.
Responsibilities:

Support and manage the strategic planning process (multi-year strategic plan)

Structure and solve business problems and make recommendations on a wide range of business issues substantiated through primary research (e.g., interviews, surveys) and secondary research

Manage the day-to-day project and team activities to meet project goals and timelines

Create “big picture” views of market spaces – with market- backed data that reveals new market opportunity (e.g., TAM) and potential winning plays

Evaluate business opportunities based on Veritas capabilities and assets coupled with market opportunity

Generate ideas and drive potential innovation initiatives and special projects

Scan the market, identify companies, and create taxonomies of the market ecosystem; identify and pursue candidate companies for partnerships and/or M&A

Collaborate in a dynamic organization across leadership levels and functions – from senior leadership to functional leaders, managers, and engineers during and beyond strategic project engagement

Communicate, educate, and influence a wide range of stakeholders in clear, concise, and compelling language and material

Provide continuous coaching and training to strategy team
Basic Qualifications:

BA/BS degree in science, engineering, or similar discipline; MBA/ MA, or other graduate degree in related field is a plus

At a minimum, 2+ years as an engagement manager, manager or case team leader at McKinsey, Bain, or BCG, respectively

Corporate or business unit strategy, sell or buy side investment research, technology industry strategic consulting, or a combination of technology background with a transition to business functions, is a plus but not required

Broad experience in enterprise software, SaaS, Cloud products / solutions within B2B space – with spikes in enterprise infrastructure software (i.e., data protection, data management, virtual machines, container management, enterprise storage, cloud management platforms or cyber security) and/or cloud computing

Entrepreneurial – inquisitiveness about how technology can transform business and the ability to rapidly evaluate markets and products with data-driven insights
