Summer Youth Camp Assistant
JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Penn State Lehigh Valley Community Outreach is hiring Summer Camp Assistants for several weeks between July 5-July 27, 2023. In addition to the program weeks, there will be an in-person training session held in June 2023.
The position requires an interest in working with elementary through high-school students in academic-based programming and a creative mindset to make learning fun! Pre-service teachers, college students with experience tutoring and working with youth, and adults who work with children are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Assisting instructors deliver camp content to students in grades K-12
- Promoting a fun and supportive environment that contributes to learning and positive social engagement for students
- Candidates must display a commitment to diversity, co-curricular education, sustainability, and should have excellent communication skills
Requirements
- Reliable transportation to Montgomery County, approximately 1-hour from Lehigh Valley's campus
- Availability during the weeks of July 5-July 27, 2023. Camps will be a 6-8 hour commitment each day
- All instructors must take Reporting Child Abuse training per University policy AD72
- Attendance at training session and preparation of camp materials prior to start of camps are both mandatory
