Overview:
The Supervisor, Manufacturing Ops will work closely with the Director, Final Test and Veeco Flow Technology (VFT) to establish a high-quality continuous improvement culture, implement value stream mapping and lean principles, and focus on problem solving using tools such as 8D. The successful candidate will manage multiple complex priorities simultaneously with a “hands on” style. The candidate must exemplify true leadership in developing his/her subassembly manufacturing line team to meet production goals, quality and cost objectives, and, in general, build credibility in Veeco and Veeco’s culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise VFT efforts to meet quarterly/annual plans. Establish operations planning model which serves the needs of business.
  • Collaborate with Planning to schedule resources based on customer requirements, production capacities and materials supply.
  • Manages the flow of VFT components and assemblies to meet the needs of the production schedules.
  • Develops schedules and manpower requirements for VFT.
  • Assist with annual budget, resource plan for VFT Production. Monitor and perform within forecasted expenses and inventory targets.
  • Supervise, organize, and engage VFT employees to drive Continuous improvement in workplace safety and organization.
  • Develop organization – training, mentoring, coaching and leading the VFT Production team. Evaluate strengths/ weaknesses and take action to ensure long term health, productivity, and a high-performance culture. Create and execute cross-training and succession plan.
  • Institutionalize continuous improvement using 8D problem solving. Ensure closed-loop feedback from quality escapes to customer site to drive corrective action. Strengthen procedures and structure around VFT activities such as workflow planning, tracking progress and troubleshooting.
  • Track and present key performance indicators (KPI’s), lessons learned, and corrective actions monthly.
  • Identify gaps in production processes and make recommendations as required to sufficiently remedy issues.
  • Review performance of VFT employees regularly to ensure improvement.
  • Support cross-functional activities for new product development.
  • Makes budgetary recommendations to provide production workers tools and equipment as needed.
  • Deliver and sustain improvements to safety policies, practices, and procedures.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related technical area and at least 5 years of related experience is required. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Direct supervisory/management experience is required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience with ERP systems is required; SAP preferred.
  • Complex, electro-mechanical equipment/systems manufacturing environment experience is required.
  • Experience implementing and sustaining lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and 5S initiatives in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Experience with semiconductor capital equipment, components or processes is a plus.
  • Skilled with MS Word and Excel
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

The expected salary range for this position is $80,000 - $110,000 + bonus + benefits. When determining your pay, we will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
