The Student Union, Inc. is 501(c)(3) nonprofit auxiliary that maintains three major facilities at San José State University in downtown San José, California. These facilities include the Diaz Compean Student Union Building, the Provident Credit Union Event Center, and the Spartan Recreation and Aquatic Center. The Student Union, Inc. functions as part of the Student Affairs Division on campus, and is governed by a Board of Directors made up of a student majority, faculty, and administrators.

Job Summary
The Supervisor of Student Success and Assessment is responsible for providing an environment of collaboration and building strong relationships with internal and external constituents to implement the following:

Corporation Assessment: Manage the development and implementation of a comprehensive program of assessment for the purpose of SUI corporation improvements in support of SUI corporation mission and its effectiveness.
- Student Success:Develop, manage, and supervise a comprehensive Student Success program for all student employees. Leading the student success committee, oversee and work with supervisors and managers of student employees to implement student success program and develop student learning outcomes at the student administrative/supervisory and program levels.
The position reports to, and receives general supervision and direction from the Executive Director.
Essential Functions and Tasks
Corporation Assessment

Develops, plans, organizes, and coordinates a comprehensive corporation assessment practice for all SUI departments, programs, and services that support the goals the SUI corporation strategic plan.
- Develops and establishes operating goals, policies, and procedures for the Student Success and Assessment function as appropriate; recommends, implements, and administers methods and procedures to enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency.
- Coordinates and works with department directors, supervisors, managers in the development and implementation of the assessment process, tools (Campus Labs, etc.), collection data, and analysis of various assessment data; including program reviews to support department and corporation goals.
- Prepares assessment findings and annual reports to summarize such findings, with particular emphasis on the quality of the assessment efforts and findings that influence SUI corporation decision-making and policy development.
- Provides strategic advice and consultation to leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of modifications and enhancements to existing operations, systems, and procedures, including student success initiatives for program growth.
- Manages all assessment and student success records, stores, manages, and disseminates confidential and sensitive assessment data, as appropriate.
Student Success

Develops a Student Success program for the SUI corporation all student employees, including core competencies, metrics, and rubrics, Student Learning Outcome (SLOs) and Service Outcomes (SO) benchmarks.
- Development of workshops for supervisor/manager training on the development of SLOs for student employee positions.
- Develop statistical models to measure impact of learning support services on student achievement of intended learning outcomes.
- Develop item analysis reports as necessary to help supervisors/managers evaluate the effectiveness of tests and test items.
- Identify and problem-solve issues that arise with SLO implementations and assessment plan.
- Coordinate the collection, evaluation, and dissemination of all assessment results to all departments and appropriately archive assessment activities.
- Leads the development, organization, analysis and reporting of SLOs and related activities to support planning activities.
- Supervise the SLO development, implementation, and assessment process and program execution
- Provide training and resources necessary to meet performance standards and assist supervisors/managers improve performance relevant to requirements to fulfill the Student Success Program outcomes
- Assures that SLO and assessments are aligned with the goals of the Student Union, the University and Student Affairs Division.
- Work with the supervisor/managers to implement workplace assessment of student learning outcomes at the student administrative and program levels.
- Serve as a repository for all Student Success evidence and Assessment reports.
- Serve on the Division of Student Affairs Student Success committee to align university and corporation plans for overall student success.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

- Ability to plan, create, program, and manage statistical computer databases across multiple hardware and operating system platforms/environments.
- Technical leadership and supervisory skills, and the ability to motivate staff productivity and performance for program implementation, assessment and outcome success.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education Student Affairs and Higher-Education Administration
- Two years of professional experience in student affairs, student services, higher education or in a related field.
- Experience in student development theory, outreach practices, and student success services, and assessment implementation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Education, Education Leadership, Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or a related field
- 3 years of experience, emphasis on Student Learning Outcome, Assessment, and Student Success preferably in a college/university setting.
- Demonstrated ability to articulate the role of student development and student leadership contribution to recruitment, student success, retention, and graduation.
