Supply Chain Manager

JOB SUMMARY
Oversees the material supply department activity to ensure all purchases optimize value and quality received while ensuring that material is available for car maintenance to minimize cars holding for material.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manages and develops staff within the Material Supply Department to ensure purchases of material are made in a timely manner to optimize value and quality received. Ensures Material Supply activity is properly documented and files are maintained. Employs project management concepts to complete numerous special assignments on-time. Identifies areas requiring improvements and recommends corrective action.
  • Accurately prepares material forecasts. Interacts with internal and external customers to resolve service concerns. Develops additional sources for new and reconditioned material. Monitors and promotes the supplier performance evaluation process. Promotes various modes of e-commerce to encourage paperless transactions where beneficial.
  • Processes Failed Material Reports and monitors the defective material aging. Monitors the disposal of obsolete material. Monitors supplier lead-time, adherence to schedule and packaging exceptions. Manages the price and participation of suppliers. Monitors purchase order due dates and expedites where necessary to preclude material outages. Presents surplus materials to management and promotes action towards reducing excess material. Monitors reclaimable material pools to maximize reconditioned material purchases.
  • Prepares new car specialty bid review sheets for management and makes purchase recommendations. Tracks new car specialty rebates, and provides periodic updates to the Finance Department.
  • Handles complex assignments. Works independently with limited management guidance. Operates with substantial latitude for un-reviewed action or decision. Manages activities of support staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Post graduate college degree or a minimum of three years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

General office environment; may be required to travel as much as twice per quarter or more. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit (remain stationary within work area) and use hands to finger, handle, feel and reach. The employee is occasionally required to move about (stand, walk). The employee must occasionally lift and/or transport up to 10 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
General office environment. Expected to be punctual and in the office when not traveling on business. Tactical functions of the job can be performed remotely and periodic remote working days will be considered. As a manager in the department it is expected that the employee will be readily available to their direct reports.
