Job Description

The Community Foundation Manager works across both the People & Culture and Customer & Brand teams. TAL’s Community Foundation was established in 2015, aligned with our company strategy, the TAL Community Foundation has a clear purpose “To support activities in the Australian community that will expand the range of choices, options and freedoms available to everyone”.

The three key focus areas of impact for the foundation are:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
  • Mental wellbeing
  • Youth development and empowerment

In this role you are responsible for managing TAL’s community strategy, including the management of TAL’s Community Foundation and executing its associated programs and annual budget cycle. You will play a pivotal role in fostering relationships with community stakeholders. This includes philanthropic activities and aligning community initiatives with the company’s broader corporate values and purpose.  You will be a key contributor as a core member of the TAL Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) working group.

This is a unique role that spans all of TAL, it requires someone who can bring high energy, imagination and adaptability to their everyday. You'll need to seamlessly switch between administrative tasks and strategic initiatives by being resourceful and entrepreneurial in your approach to internal and external stakeholders of all levels. We're looking for a team player, who can innovative, bring fresh ideas to life and embody the spirit and values of TAL.

In this role you will:  

  • Develop, manage and execute communications to raise awareness of Foundation activity for both internal and external audiences
  • Lead key programs including volunteering, employee fundraising, partner activities, mentoring and volunteering programs to engage our people
  • Develop the capability of the Community Foundation Council, Steering, Working groups and volunteers
  • Develop and deliver activities and events to TAL employees in line with the Foundation’s purpose and objectives
  • Collaborate with and support TAL's community partners to develop an annual roadmap of activities
  • Organise and represent TAL at community and partner events, forums, and discussions related to social impact and reconciliation
  • Develop content for reporting purposes for a range of mediums and stakeholders, to continually demonstrate social impact
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with TAL’s community partners and continually explore mutually valuable opportunities
  • Continue to review return on investment for TAL's community partnerships and programs
  • Support the development and implementation of TALs' Reconciliation Action Plan
  • Keep abreast of industry developments and trends to support you in your role and decision making
  • Demonstrate operational and governance expertise, budget and risk management in adherence to TAL guidelines, policies and procedures

Qualifications

  • Over 5 years’ experience in community engagement, philanthropy, or social impact positions
  • Demonstrated experience managing community investment programs
  • Demonstrated experience in partnering with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, partners and suppliers
  • Competent in analysing data and developing impact reports for a range of audiences
  • Skilled at developing and delivery presentations to large groups, effectively engaging and inspiring the audience
  • Excellent relationship management skills, proven ability to influence peers, colleagues and senior leaders to support community initiatives
