Overview

Milliman is looking for a Talent Acquisition Intern to support the Indianapolis Health consulting practice’s full-cycle recruitment efforts for intern, entry-level and experienced hire talent. As a TA Intern, you will have an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic, growing team of multi-disciplinary health consulting professionals. Successful TA interns are problem solvers, strong writers, creative marketers, and comfortable putting ideas into actionable steps. Ideal candidates are also eager to learn and deliver a best-in-class candidate experience. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about, and contribute to, developing effective talent acquisition strategies, gain exposure to recruitment tools, and develop essential skills for a successful career in Human Resources/People Operations. This internship is designed for a current undergraduate or graduate student who is pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Communication, Marketing, or a related field. The position is available approximately mid-August to mid-November. Preference will be given to students who plan to complete their degree program in the spring of 2024.

Learning Objectives

  • Learn about overall TA function - how it impacts key business decisions, stakeholders involved, and more
  • Learn how TA operates at Milliman's Indy Health practice by working closely with the Recruiting Manager and collaborating with internal interview coordinators, hiring leaders, and our corporate Human Resources department
  • Learn how requisitions are managed and basic reporting functionality in our Applicant Tracking System (ATS)
  • Learn how to use candidate data to tell an effective TA story
  • Learn basic screening and sourcing techniques

Responsibilities

As a TA Intern you will be a key player who contributes to the success of our practice's recruitment efforts. Recruitment work is well-suited for detail-oriented people who can work effectively both independently and collaboratively, on multiple projects, in a fast-paced environment. The position will assist with general recruitment administration (email monitoring, event preparations, marketing, team and candidate support) in addition to special projects.

  • Sample projects the TA Intern can assist with may include:
    • Customer Relationship Management (CRM) use for candidate and event data entry
    • ATS reporting using Excel
    • Sourcing strategy development and implementation
    • Marketing and social media strategy
    • Student Ambassador program
    • Event management - virtual and campus-based

Qualifications:

Required

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Strong communication skills - oral and written
  • Basic analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proactive, with a willingness to learn and contribute to the team
  • Ability to work 15 to 20 hours per week - can be flexible based on class schedule

Preferred

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Teams
  • Student user/event attendee who is familiar with LinkedIn, Handshake, Brazen
  • Customer service experience
  • Graduate with Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Spring 2024
  • Brings enthusiasm and creativity to the development of procedures and systems (automated and manual) to improve the processing and flow of information within the practice

Location

Candidates hired into this role will be required to work in-person in the Milliman office in Indianapolis, Indiana on a weekly basis, but flexible work arrangements will be considered.

Compensation

The hourly pay rate for this role is $19 to $28, depending on a combination of factors, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, location, etc.

  • When an intern, temporary, or seasonal employee reaches 1,000 hours worked within 12 consecutive months, they become eligible for a 401(k) plan with matching program and profit sharing contribution.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) starts accruing on the first day of work and can be used for any reason. Interns, Temporary, and Seasonal Employees will earn PTO each pay period, with an accrual rate of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.

Education

Preferred

Bachelors or better in Communications.
Bachelors or better in Human Resources.
Bachelors or better in Marketing.
