As a member of our two-year teaching corps, you will work as a full-time educator, employed by a school district in an underserved community of your choosing across the U.S. Teaching positions are PK-12 in one or more core subjects, primarily: science, math, computer science, STEM, humanities, ELA, reading, special education, Spanish/bilingual education, ESL, history, and social studies.

We do not offer remote/work-from-home teaching positions. Teach For America works in over 40 regions across the United States. Applicants can choose the region(s) they would like to teach in.

Program Benefits:

  • Up to $62,000/year full-time salary and benefits (dental insurance, health insurance, life insurance, retirement plan, vision insurance, paid vacation)
  • Access to financial support offerings to help get you to your first paycheck, including:
  • A Baseline Regional Stipend available to all incoming corps members, awarded based on region
  • An additional $3,000 Pell/EAD Stipend is also automatically added for all corps members who are Pell Grant recipients or EAD holders, regardless of region
  • The option to apply for additional need-based support, including grants, and zero-interest loans*
  • Additional benefits, such as ones through AmeriCorps (including federal loan forbearance, interest accrual payments, and education awards including Segal AmeriCorps Education Award)
  • Guidance obtaining an initial teaching license before entering the classroom and full teacher certification in where state regulations require
  • Master’s degree options
  • Intensive teaching and leadership training and classroom preparation
  • Camaraderie and lifelong connections with people who share your values
  • Access to a network of over 65,300 TFA alumni leaders across multiple fields and sectors

*Need-based packages awarded based on an applicant's demonstrated need and stipend amount.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher
  • Bachelor’s degree (in any field of study)
  • Must be a citizen, national, or legal resident of the United States, EAD holder or have DACA status
  • Applicants do not need a background in education, or teaching certificationall experience levels and backgrounds are welcome to apply

Must possess ability to commute/relocate:

  • Reliably commute within Richmond, LA or willingness to relocate to one of over 40 regions before starting work as a fall 2024 corps member. (Required)
